In a recent social media post, travel blogger Khoai Lang Thang revealed many things about his personality and his approach to content creation. The YouTuber called these "some truths" about himself.

He said he comes from the countryside, is a "true farmer's son," and has been "a bit rough" since childhood, enjoying arguments to clarify right and wrong. He admitted that he was stubborn when he was young, rarely listening to others during arguments, and that personality still remains today, although it has lessened somewhat.

In the early stages of making travel, culture, and food experience videos , he often received compliments on his bright smile. From then on, he constantly smiled in his videos to "show off his teeth" and create a more cheerful atmosphere. But now he's more restrained, and he feels a little embarrassed when he watches videos from those early days.

Khoai Lang Thang stated that he deliberately avoids including images of himself angry, swearing, or losing control in his videos because he realizes many children watch his content. According to him, this self-censorship unintentionally leads many to believe he's building a positive image on social media. "Khoai is normal too, he's also reckless, he makes mistakes, and he has his ups and downs," he wrote.

He's also thinking of ways to show viewers more of his everyday life without negatively impacting the children watching the channel. He even joked that he might create a separate channel specifically for viewers over 18.

Khoai Lang Thang has traveled to Japan and South Korea in recent years.

The male travel blogger also explained his frequent responses to rumors about himself, those around him, or the brands he collaborates with. According to him, he used to choose silence in the face of false information, but over time, those rumors were perceived as true by many and continue to affect him today.

Regarding his life philosophy, he shared that he doesn't advocate a reckless lifestyle. For him, everyone should do things with "50% passion and naivety, and 50% reason," because without reason, everything becomes a "game of chance." He said he will continue to share more truths about himself if there are further questions from the audience in the future.

Previously, Khoai Lang Thang also attracted attention when he posted his perspective on a tourism mindset that he found very effective but often overlooked: building a model that prioritizes serving the needs of local people to create a unique and vibrant destination with its distinct identity and culture.

He argued that instead of building a tourist night market selling the same things, a casual food market would attract a large number of locals. From that effect, tourists would naturally find their way there.

"The model of concentrating street vendors along with tax incentives and rental price reductions has been successful in many countries and attracted many tourists. Developing tourism based on local people is certainly more difficult, but when successful, the tourism model will be very sustainable," he expressed.

Khoai Lang Thang, whose real name is Dinh Vo Hoai Phuong (34 years old, from Ben Tre province), worked as a design engineer before switching to producing travel and food vlogs in 2017. In 2025, he received the Content Creator of the Year award for the second time. Currently, Khoai Lang Thang has over 3 million subscribers on YouTube, 2.8 million followers on TikTok, and over 3.5 million followers on Facebook.
