SYM Fiddle DX 158 "gas guzzler" only 1.6L/100km is about to be sold in Vietnam

A new scooter model of SYM has just appeared in the Vietnam Intellectual Property Gazette, said to be the Fiddle DX 158 with fuel consumption of only 1.6 liters of gasoline/100km.

According to Volume 2, Official Gazette No. 449, Volume A, published by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam in August 2025, Sanyang Motor Company (SYM) has registered an industrial design copyright for a completely new scooter model. The accompanying images show that this is most likely the SYM Fiddle DX 158.

SYM Fiddle DX 158 attracts attention with its classic European design style but still retains modernity. The overall vehicle is a harmonious combination of soft rounded lines and square details, bringing a look that is both luxurious and youthful.

The headlights are placed on the handlebars, reminiscent of a familiar classic style, while the daytime running lights make a difference.

This design is inspired by the shape of a violin string, running vertically using LED technology, combined with a synchronized rear light cluster, creating a unique identity for the Fiddle DX 158.

The modern color LCD dashboard provides intuitive display. The trunk has a capacity of up to 24 liters, enough to hold a 3/4 helmet and some personal items.

In particular, the car is equipped with two USB charging ports with two different connection standards, serving the need to charge phones and electronic devices while traveling.

In addition, SYM also focuses on equipping many convenient features on the new model. The entire lighting system is LED, the double rear shock absorbers help the vehicle operate more smoothly.

Front and rear disc brake system with ABS and traction control, providing safety for the SYM Fiddle DX 158 scooter in many situations.

A notable difference is that the 7-liter fuel tank is located in the front left compartment, replacing the auxiliary storage compartment, making refueling faster and more convenient. The footrest is spacious enough to fit a 20-inch suitcase.

However, one limitation is that the model still uses a mechanical key and a shutter lock system, instead of being equipped with a smart lock (Keyless) that is popular on many scooter models today.

SYM Fiddle DX 158 uses a 158cc, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine. This engine block produces a maximum capacity of 14.8 horsepower. The vehicle weighs only 124 kg, significantly lighter than most competitors in the same segment.

A big plus is its fuel economy. According to the announcement, the model consumes 1 liter of gasoline for 60.2 km, equivalent to only about 1.66 liters/100 km. In the Taiwanese market, the SYM Fiddle DX 158 has a starting price of 106,500 NTD (equivalent to about 92 million VND).
