( Quang Ngai Newspaper) - Ten years have passed, looking back I am filled with nostalgia. Let's listen to the poet Pham Duong's feelings after ten years of separation through the work "Ten Years".

Human life is divided into many stages. Every ten years is a stage of life, the ancients divided it like that. That is the milestone, the turning point in each person's life. In each of those stages, we have communicated with nature, with society, resonated into many emotional melodies and woven into many memories. Then, ten years have passed, when looking back, I am filled with nostalgia.

"The day you left, an autumn afternoon, the leaves fell", the opening verse with a gentle, deep melody, sows in people's hearts a feeling of sadness and emptiness. Every word evokes memories, evokes nostalgia, and stirs up memories: "The day you left" is a regrettable event, "the autumn afternoon, the leaves fell" is the time and space that evokes separation and longing.

People often say that autumn is the season of separation. Because the pale autumn sunlight, especially the autumn afternoon sunlight, with the yellow leaves flying, always makes people feel melancholy and lonely, evoking feelings of separation and separation. People and scenery are intertwined with feelings of separation. Che Lan Vien once exclaimed about this feeling: “Oh! Longing! Oh longing!/ An autumn bird lost at the end of the forest”.

In this poem, the author borrowed the words: "The day you left, an autumn afternoon, the leaves fell/ I was absent-mindedly looking at the bamboo tree at the front of the communal house/ You were still beautiful even though you walked alone/ The bamboo tree grew... mourning... Someone sang". Are the two lyrical characters "you" and "I" placed in a love story? Have they become exes - old lovers or not, so that the young man's lovesickness reaches an increasing level: "I bow my head and the silk is tangled in nine pieces/ You are far away at the end of the sky, so I miss you and love you"?

If "The Day You Left" makes the young man's soul feel distant, nostalgic to the point of being "dazed", then in the lonely journey back, looking back at her figure at the end of the distant sky, the traveler's mood is filled with lingering longing and pain from nine levels of sadness, originating from a sincere heart.

In my opinion, this is not a love story. Because the personal pronoun "I" is not usually used in passionate love between couples, but "you" is often used. Furthermore, the next two verses bring up the symbol of student age. The age of youth is considered the most beautiful in one's life: "A few cicada sounds fall in the corner of the schoolyard/ In the summer, a few phoenix wings remain".

The words “dầm” and “đất” are words that indicate a quantity that is conventional. That familiar sound and image has evoked so many feelings about the old school and old friends. It has the power to intermingle, spread and echo to infinity. It awakens the vast space and time, stirring the soul! And leaves in us so much nostalgia and regret, leaving a void in our hearts that cannot be easily filled. That is the age of students. Now it only exists in memories.

So, “The Day You Left” is the day we leave high school, to enter life through many different paths. And “you” here, in my opinion, is a pronoun referring to student years, the innocent years, the most beautiful years of one’s life. And then, when we have to part, we have to say goodbye, and we all feel regret and longing.

That “The Day You Left” left behind so many emotions, not just of one person, but of many people, of those who had gone to school. Yet the author used the first-person pronoun “I”: “I was absent-mindedly looking at the bamboo tree at the head of the communal house” instead of “we”.

After all, in the general there is always the particular. The general - particular category is always attached to each other. In the beautiful memories of school days, there are always sweet memories, pure moments of each individual. It will vibrate, echo when touched. However, it is still the nostalgia, regret after ten years have passed as if it is compressed and cannot be forgotten, just looking back to that time and restlessly missing: "That is enough to warm the heart/ Ten years have passed but I have not forgotten/ That is enough for a lifetime of tired eyes/ Ten years have passed, do you still remember me...".

The poem's structure is not new or strange, but the poetic sentiment is poignant and easy to touch people's hearts. The author skillfully expresses it in an explicit way, but the message is implicit, leaving a feeling of longing and regret in the reader's heart.

BUI HUYEN TUONG

Ten years
The day you left, an autumn afternoon, leaves fell
I looked absent-mindedly at the bamboo tree at the head of the temple.
You are still beautiful even when walking alone
Bamboo grows... in mourning... Someone sings

I bow my head to the nine-fold tangled silk
You are far away at the end of the sky, so I miss you and miss you.
A few cicadas fell in the corner of the schoolyard
Summer leaves only a few phoenix wings

That's enough to warm the heart
Ten years have passed but I still haven't forgotten.
That's enough for a lifetime of tired eyes.
It's been ten years, do you still remember?
