According to tourism experts, Tan Phu district has many advantages in developing community tourism with tourism products based on available resources such as: agricultural and rural tourism; community-based tourism; forest ecotourism... Notably, the cultural characteristics of the Ma and Stieng ethnic communities; tourism to explore Cat Tien National Park...
Impressive tourism products
Recently, the name Ta Lai Eco Lodge (Ta Lai commune, Tan Phu district) has attracted the attention of tourists who are passionate about travel when this destination was honored with the Southeast Asia Responsible Tourism Award 2025, an award organized and selected by the Southeast Asia Sustainable Tourism Certification Program (ICRT-SEA). It is known that Ta Lai Eco Lodge is a sustainable ecotourism model, not only improving the livelihoods of local people, but also preserving indigenous cultures and protecting the environment. The above tourism product was established for more than a year, based on available resources and experience in local tourism.
Ms. Ka Tuyen, founder of Ta Lai Eco Lodge, said that coming to Ta Lai Eco Lodge, visitors will be provided with services with profound and unique experiences about the customs, habits, culture, and cuisine of the Ma and S'tieng ethnic groups. Specifically: Staying in traditional stilt houses of the Ma people, restored with natural materials such as bamboo and rattan; participating in hiking trips in the forest guided by local guides, experienced guides with deep knowledge of the forest to share indigenous knowledge about the land and plants...
Different from the cultural imprints of ethnic minorities, coming to Phu Dien commune, visitors will be immersed in the countryside space with endless rice fields, interspersed with lotus fields, undulating rocky mountains, creating an extremely interesting natural space, captivating visitors at dawn and dusk.
As someone who has been to Phu Dien many times every weekend when visiting her hometown in Dinh Quan district, Ms. Nguyen Thi My (living in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) shared that she really likes the poetic scenery in Phu Dien commune. At each time, Phu Dien has its own beauty. However, the most attractive moment for Ms. My is cycling in the morning, watching the sun rise over the vast rice fields, which makes her feel like she is recharged with energy for a new day.
Based on the unique and available resources, Tan Phu district can build unique tourism products. In addition, Tan Phu can also exploit buffer tourism product routes such as Hung Temple route, Linh Phu Pagoda - Hoa Binh waterfall; some entertainment spots such as Phong Phu point, flower garden in Thanh Son commune, river tourism route promises to create uniqueness for Tan Phu tourism.
Tan Phu has many famous tourist destinations such as: Cat Tien National Park, recognized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as the 72nd conservation area in the world to achieve the Green List title; community tourism products in Ta Lai, Phu Dien; Suoi Mo Tourist Area... attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
Exploiting unique strengths
In recent years, Tan Phu district has connected with tourism experts and researchers to survey the tourism potential in the district. Through the survey, tourism experts commented that Tan Phu has a lot of potential but the exploitation is still not commensurate. The number of tourists coming to Tan Phu is not significant compared to the potential, while Tan Phu has tourism resources that very few other places have such as: a large forest area creating a unique natural ecosystem in Tan Phu; rare landscapes of rice fields of ethnic minorities in Ta Lai, Phu Dien along with ethnic cultural identities.

According to researchers, Tan Phu has two locations that can develop tourism in the direction of ethnic villages, which are the ethnic village in Ta Lai and the livable countryside in Phu Dien commune. If developed in this direction, Tan Phu tourism can change quickly, making the most of available resources, without affecting too much the existing values.
Sharing about the direction of tourism product development for Tan Phu, Professor Phan Thi Thu Hien, senior lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), commented that Tan Phu has a number of potential areas that can develop the tourism service industry, including: the central area with Tan Phu town, with a focus on urban, industrial and service areas; Phu Dien area with the brand of a livable countryside with a village ecosystem with rice fields, lotus ponds, rocky mountains in the middle of the fields, volcanic caves, etc.; Phu Lap commune area connecting with Ta Lai and Nui Tuong communes has an ecosystem of industrial, agricultural and aquatic crops, with an emphasis on industrial crops, the culture of ethnic minorities, especially the oil tree fields located in the middle of the primeval forest, which is very rare in Vietnam.
Discussing the development orientation for Tan Phu tourism, Vice Chairman of Tan Phu District People's Committee Pham Thanh Hai said that in the coming time, the district will focus on exploiting cultural tourism values at potential locations, especially creating conditions for tourist destinations to exploit the strengths of community tourism, agriculture, etc.
According to Mr. Hai, the district has just invested in and renovated the cultural house area of ethnic minorities and 2 long houses of the Ma and S'tieng people, and created conditions for the local tourism cooperative to build and renovate 2 long houses, serving community cultural activities, and at the same time being able to exploit them for guests.
Besides focusing on building new tourism products, in the coming time, the district will strengthen the training of human resources to serve the tourism industry, and coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize training and coaching of human resources for tourism.
According to the Vice Chairman of Tan Phu District People's Committee, Ta Lai has 3 main ethnic groups: Stieng, Ma and Tay. Currently, in the area, the Tay people still maintain the traditional singing culture, the culinary culture is still preserved, with many outstanding and unique features.
Many years ago, Tan Phu district had a vision to promote tourism development, but until now, tourism has not had a remarkable breakthrough. In recent times, Tan Phu has cooperated with organizations, businesses, and tourism experts to survey and advise the locality to fully exploit tourism resources, creating opportunities to build Tan Phu into a destination with unique tourism value chains, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the locality in the coming time.
