On the afternoon of June 23, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology held a ceremony to announce and present the Decision on personnel work, in which Minister Nguyen Manh Hung presented the Decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Head of the Board of Members of Vietnam Post Corporation, to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Members of the Corporation.

This is a particularly important milestone, starting a new development phase of Vietnam Post in the digital age, aiming to become a key national postal and technology enterprise.

Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Science and Technology, presented the decision to appoint Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Post Corporation to Comrade Nguyen Truong Giang.

Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Party Secretary, Minister of Science and Technology chaired the Ceremony. Attending the Ceremony were Deputy Ministers: Pham Duc Long, Bui The Duy, Hoang Minh and leaders of units under the Ministry.

Speaking at the conference, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed that comrade Nguyen Truong Giang is a special person, who voluntarily took on a task at a unit with many challenges from a favorable position. VNPT VinaPhone is a company with large revenue and profit, growing well, while Vietnam Post Corporation is still facing many difficulties.

Over the past two years, many challenges have been overcome. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung is very happy that comrade Nguyen Truong Giang and the Vietnam Post Corporation have overcome them, have grown again, stopped the decline, and increased the salaries of over 50,000 workers. And more importantly, the path ahead is clearly visible.

According to the Minister, the growth and especially the gradual improvement of Vietnam Post will be the most valuable and greatest joy for comrade Nguyen Truong Giang. The position of Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Post Corporation, which was granted by the Ministry of Science and Technology today, will come with many heavier responsibilities.

Repositioning the role of the Post Office in the digital economy

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang expressed his deep gratitude to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long and all leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology for entrusting him with the new responsibility. At the same time, he appreciated the support and companionship of the members of the Board of Members (BOM), the Board of Directors and the staff, employees and workers of Vietnam Post Corporation during the nearly 2 years he held the role of Head of the BOD.

“ That trust and affection is a great source of strength that helps me firmly overcome challenging times,” Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang shared.

The new Chairman of the Board of Directors commented that the world is moving rapidly, with many unpredictable fluctuations. This is a pivotal moment that is both full of challenges and opens up many great opportunities for Vietnam Post to reposition its role and contribution in the digital economy and digital society.

“Vietnam Post needs to step out of the traditional business model to truly become a modern technology - public service enterprise, quickly grasping new trends such as AI, big data, cloud computing and digital platforms, to create essential, smart Postal - Logistics - Public Administration and retail services that are close to all people,” Mr. Giang emphasized.

Six strategic tasks to create breakthroughs

At the Ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Directors Nguyen Truong Giang identified 06 strategic and key tasks that the leader and the Corporation's leadership will focus on implementing in the coming time.

1. Strongly transform from a traditional postal enterprise to a service technology enterprise, providing comprehensive solutions, integrating multiple services, and improving customer experience.

2. Thoroughly reform the pricing mechanism and operational efficiency , aiming to strongly optimize service costs - this is not only a savings for customers, but also part of the strategy to expand market share, rebuild the national logistics market, and contribute to promoting the country's economic growth.

3. Assert leadership position   logistics industry , aiming for a growth rate of 400% by 2030 - based on the digitalization of the network, modernization of infrastructure and deep connection with domestic and international supply chains, providing the most comprehensive and optimal solutions for customers.

4. Strongly develop the retail system and make the "Postal Department Store" chain and the "Postal Department Store" e-commerce platform become the top 3 largest retail systems in Vietnam by 2030, associated with the advantage of a wide distribution channel and people's trust in the Postal brand.

5. Deploy a comprehensive Digital Transformation platform for traditional grocery stores nationwide, with the goal of capturing 50% of the service market share for this segment - supporting small businesses to access technology, increase income, and contribute back to the economic development of the community.

6. Build a transparent, flexible, innovative management model , develop a team of young, technologically capable staff with a spirit of dedicated service and long-term commitment to the Post Office.

In the next 12 months, Vietnam Post Corporation aims to increase revenue by 25%, profit and employee income by 15%.

Before becoming Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Post Corporation, he held many senior leadership positions:

- In charge of the Board of Members of Vietnam Post Corporation from August 2023;

- General Director of VinaPhone Telecommunication Services Corporation (VNPT VinaPhone);
