Cultural resources promote sustainable tourism development in the new era

The whole province currently has 1 special national relic (Mu Cang Chai terraced fields), 1 representative intangible heritage of humanity (Thai Xoe art) and 11 national intangible heritages (6 heritages were recognized in the 2021-2024 period alone).

The province has directed the implementation of many solutions to arouse pride in the cultural identity and local people. Thereby, many unique cultural features are restored to attract tourists, such as: the movement of wearing traditional costumes, folk games, ethnic sports ; restoring traditional wedding ceremonies; promoting the beauty of work and daily life (nude bathing, tang cau hair bun, writing ancient Thai characters, traditional handicrafts...).

The planning, investment, conservation and restoration of relics are oriented to prioritize projects to enhance the value of tourism products. The focus is on typical projects such as the Project "Preserving and promoting the value of tangible and intangible cultural heritages associated with tourism development in Yen Bai province in the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030" and Projects under the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period of 2021-203035...

In addition, the province promotes the development of typical craft villages into destinations in tours and tourist routes, contributing to the preservation and promotion of cultural values associated with sustainable tourism economic development.

In particular, paying attention to the role of artisans in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, the province has recently submitted to the Council at the ministerial and state levels to consider awarding the title of Meritorious Artisan to 18 individuals (3 individuals in the period 2021 - 2024). In 2025, the province proposed to consider awarding the title of Meritorious Artisan, People's Artisan to 8 individuals with excellent moral qualities, professional talents, and many contributions to the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage associated with tourism development.

Along with that, the establishment and improvement of the effectiveness of grassroots art troupes associated with tourism development are given special attention to preserve folk songs and dances, maintain traditional crafts and promote the role of artisans in creating and transmitting cultural heritage in the community. From the support source under Resolution No. 10/NQ-HDND, the province has supported the establishment and maintenance of 243 mass art troupes in villages and hamlets for community tourism... At the same time, associations and organizations have actively implemented emulation movements, programs and projects to mobilize members to participate in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic groups.
