Thac Mo Hydropower Plant: Efforts to ensure safety for downstream areas

BPO - In order to raise awareness and equip people with skills to prevent and respond to natural disasters, on June 24, Thac Mo Hydropower Joint Stock Company coordinated with Long Giang commune, Phuoc Long town to organize a conference to propagate warnings on reservoir operations, ensuring safety for the downstream area of ​​the plant in 2025.

At the conference, many people living in the downstream area were informed by officers and technical staff of Thac Mo Hydropower Plant about the process of operating water storage, regulating flood discharge during the rainy season, emergency situations and response solutions when the plant discharges flood.

Many people from An Luong village, Long Giang commune participated in the propaganda session organized by Thac Mo Hydropower Plant.

Mr. Thai Van Vinh, Head of An Luong village, Long Giang commune, said: The village management board regularly coordinates with Thac Mo Hydropower Plant to grasp the situation of flood discharge regulation and propaganda for people to proactively respond when floods come, and at the same time mobilize all boats and canoes to serve rescue work and evacuate people when emergency situations occur.

Technical staff of Thac Mo Hydropower Plant informed about flood discharge regulation and response measures at the propaganda session.

"The factory recommends that people strictly comply with regulations on flood and storm prevention, organize reasonable cultivation, harvest and relocate crops in river and stream corridors before the flood season" - Mr. Ngo Thanh Danh, Deputy Head of Administration and Labor Department, Thac Mo Hydropower Joint Stock Company said.

With a reservoir capacity of over 1.3 billion m3, the amount of water flowing into the reservoir during the rainy season is very large, along with the inter-reservoir operation plan associated with ensuring dam safety from the factory, proactively applying response measures by people in the downstream area is very necessary to minimize damage to people and property in case the factory regulates flood discharge.
