Golden Lotus is one of the typical works written about President Ho Chi Minh 's childhood, expressing the deep affection and respect of writer Son Tung for Uncle Ho.
With a simple, emotional writing style, the work vividly depicts his childhood - from the peaceful days with his family in Hue to the painful events of loss. Through 21 chapters, the book contributes to explaining the initial foundations that formed the great personality of the leader: studiousness, thrift, integrity, altruism and a sense of justice.
The work also depicts the images of Uncle Ho's relatives and childhood friends such as Ms. Hanh, Mr. Tuan, Mr. Ky, Mr. Quang... - those who accompanied and shared with him throughout the turbulent childhood of the boy Nguyen Sinh Con (Nguyen Sinh Cung). It was this closeness that contributed to nurturing his soul, will and humane spirit.
The Golden Lotus is not only a valuable document about President Ho Chi Minh's childhood but also a work of profound educational value, inspiring patriotism, a sense of responsibility to the Fatherland and the desire to cultivate morality and personality in today's young generation of Vietnam.
Writer Son Tung (full name is Bui Son Tung, born in 1928 in Nghe An, died in 2021 in Hanoi) is the author of many works about President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese cultural and revolutionary celebrities. The most prominent of these is the novel Blue Lotus - a work that has left a great impression on readers.
On June 14, 2011, he was awarded the title of Hero of Labor in the Renovation Period by the President, becoming the fourth person of the Vietnam Writers Association to be honored with this title.
