A space that recreates rituals.

The program is part of a series of activities for the Duong No Village Festival commemorating the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (1890 - 2026), organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City.

Witnesses and artisans recreated the ceremony exactly as it was performed when the people of A Lưới district heard the news of the passing of beloved President Ho Chi Minh in 1969.

To begin, the presiding officer delivered a speech paying tribute to President Ho Chi Minh – who dedicated his entire life to the cause of national liberation and the happiness of the people. Amidst the multitude of tasks concerning peace and national security, he still showed affectionate feelings through letters to the people of ethnic minorities, reminding them: “Although I am far away, my heart and the Government remain close to you.”

In this time of sorrow, the people of the ethnic groups in western Hue place absolute trust in the wise leadership of the Party, dedicating their sacred and profound feelings to the beloved Uncle Ho, vowing to bear the surname Ho for life to engrave in their hearts the immeasurable gratitude for his contributions. This is an honor and a source of pride, affirming that Uncle Ho will forever live on in every beat of every heart of the people of all ethnic groups.

And from then on, whenever they had a child, the people voluntarily gave their child Uncle Ho's surname. The reenactment ceremony took viewers back to the scene of the Truong Son mountain range on the day Uncle Ho passed away. That day, there were village elders, senior citizens, representatives of the Front, village chiefs, and all the people of the ethnic groups in the Western region. Everyone turned towards the North, towards the infinitely beloved Uncle Ho, and swore an oath: "Anyone who is two-faced will be punished by the gods, punished by heaven, and will wither away like a rotten tree in the forest, like a dried-up stream, like burnt grass and trees…"

According to the organizers, to date, the A Lưới highland region has nearly 12,000 people with the surname Ho, accounting for over 40.3% of the population; Nam Đông (now part of Phú Lộc district) has more than 2,600 people with the surname Ho (29%); and the Pa Cô people have the most people bearing Uncle Ho's surname, over 7,000 people (over 45.2%).

Among them are many famous People's Armed Forces Heroes of the Pa Cô ethnic group from A Lưới such as: Hồ Vai, Hồ Kăn Lịch, Hồ A Nun, Hồ Dục, Hồ Đơm, Hồ A Vầu, Hồ Căn Trẹc, along with People's Armed Forces Hero Hồ Cu Tríp, of the Cơ Tu ethnic group.
