Yesterday, July 10, at the Hanaka tennis court complex ( Bac Ninh ), the Vietnamese tennis team with players Vu Ha Minh Duc, Nguyen Van Phuong, Pham La Hoang Anh, Dinh Viet Tuan Minh, Nguyen Minh Phat entered the final training phase to prepare for the Davis Cup Group III Asia 2025. This tournament took place from July 14 to 19, attracting 9 teams including Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria and host Vietnam.
Three teams, including the two first-placed teams of the two groups and the winner of the play-off match between the two second-placed teams, will qualify for the Davis Cup Group II play-off. With veteran players such as Ly Hoang Nam and Trinh Linh Giang switching to pickleball, the Vietnamese tennis team will have difficulty competing with Thailand and Indonesia, so they should aim for the third ticket to the Group II play-off. To achieve this goal, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese tennis team is hoping for the brilliance of 22-year-old talent Vu Ha Minh Duc.

With the passion and aspiration to follow in the footsteps of his senior Ly Hoang Nam to pursue professional tennis, Vu Ha Minh Duc left Hanoi to practice in Tay Ninh from a young age. With the support of his family, even his parents quitting their jobs in Hanoi to follow their son to Tay Ninh to open a pho restaurant next to the court to be close to and take care of him, this is an extremely great motivation for Vu Ha Minh Duc to constantly strive. Thanks to that, this tennis player has constantly improved, continuously reaping success in both domestic and international youth tournaments.
In the past two years, when Ly Hoang Nam did not compete in the national championship, Vu Ha Minh Duc affirmed his talent as a successor when he defeated the remaining players to win the men's singles championship. That is the reason why the player who just joined AP Sports Club (HCMC) automatically got a place in the Vietnam tennis team to compete in Davis Cup and SEA Games 33 without having to compete in the selection like the other players. In addition to possessing a good technical foundation, Vu Ha Minh Duc is also highly appreciated for his determined fighting spirit and constant efforts in every ball.
Vu Ha Minh Duc said he is proud to wear the Vietnamese tennis team jersey to compete in international tournaments such as Davis Cup and SEA Games, and strives to show his full potential in each match. Coaches believe that Vietnamese tennis will stagnate in terms of achievements in international tournaments such as SEA Games without Ly Hoang Nam and Trinh Linh Giang. However, this is also an opportunity for players like Vu Ha Minh Duc and other young talents to rise up. The Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) is also determined to invest more heavily in young athletes to build a generation of successors.
