On the afternoon of May 28th, the People's Committee of Phan Rí Cửa commune ( Lam Đồng province) reported that heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds had caused landslides in the Triền Tân Phú hill area, resulting in a large amount of soil and sand spilling onto the DT716 road, affecting traffic in the area.
According to local sources, localized heavy rain accompanied by strong gusts of wind that occurred in the late afternoon of the same day (May 28) caused a section of embankment, approximately 40m long, 3m wide, and with an average depth of 3m, to collapse in Tan Phu hamlet, Phu Thuy village.

In addition, tens of cubic meters of sand from the hillside spilled onto the DT716 road, covering a length of approximately 30m, a width of 6m, and an average height of 0.3m, obstructing traffic. Furthermore, the spilled sand buried four earthen graves near the landslide area.
Initial inspections by the People's Committee of Phan Rí Cửa commune concluded that the drainage system along the DT716 road section from Hòa Thắng to Phan Rí Cửa had deteriorated and become damaged, rendering it incapable of draining water. This resulted in rainwater from the hillsides overflowing into residential areas and onto the road surface.

Immediately after the incident occurred, local authorities mobilized forces and heavy machinery to the scene to clear and remove the sand and soil that had spilled onto the road, ensuring traffic safety and restoring normal life for the residents.
