Mr. Cuong shared when introducing the publication Trend 26+, the first trend publication of the Vietnamese furniture industry in the period 2026-2030, published by the Vietnam Furniture Association and a number of publishing units, in which he is one of 45 domestic and international experts writing articles.
After Trinh Huu Ngoc, there has not been any more famous interior designers.
Regarding the trend of foreign-style architecture and interior design, Associate Professor Vu Hong Cuong - Head of the Department of Interior Design, Hanoi University of Architecture - said that according to his personal observations, he has recently noticed that the trend of building ancient architecture such as French architecture, castles, etc. is decreasing, settling down, giving way to works more suitable for contemporary life.
This is a very encouraging sign after a period of time when fake ancient structures, majestic castles, and buildings built in French architecture sprung up massively throughout urban and rural areas.
"Investors are the ones who lead the market. If they have a foreign mentality, they will only import foreign products.
"If they start to listen to architects and designers more, then our architecture and interior design industry will shape its own style," said Mr. Cuong.
However, according to Mr. Cuong, currently our interior design industry does not have its own style.
Identity already shines through in the designs and creations of individuals. But we need more individuals like that to distill it into style.
Architect Hoang Thuc Hao - Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Architects - said we have many famous architects, but it is very difficult to find a famous interior designer who dominates the domestic market and is internationally competitive.
Until now, only Mr. Trinh Huu Ngoc was a famous interior designer before 1954.
According to Mr. Vu Hong Cuong, the reason for these shortcomings is partly that we lack a theoretical foundation to lead architecture and interior design to go far and sustainably.
And publications like Trend 26+ will help fill these gaps. The publication contributes to building a theoretical foundation for Vietnamese architecture and interior design, helping society understand the role and position of architects and interior designers.

Architect Le Truong - Chairman of the Vietnam Furniture Association - said that trends are not something that is born naturally, they are the result of a process of observation, selection and intentional creation.
In the design industry, trends are not just about what is new, but must reflect the identity, social needs and spirit of the times.
Therefore, Trend 26+ promises to become an effective support tool for industry players, while helping society better understand architecture and interior design.
