Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tang Huu Phong chaired the press conference.

Currently, the traffic sign system on the routes leading to and from Terminal T3 has been fully installed and additional traffic direction signs have been added to facilitate vehicle drivers, in accordance with the design plan of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road construction project and the T3 Terminal construction project.

According to the design, vehicles from Tran Quoc Hoan Street to Cong Hoa Street and Truong Chinh Street will travel up the overpass, without creating intersections at the intersections. The road below the overpass only serves vehicles that need to enter and exit Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport.

However, during the operation, there are still some drivers who do not comply with the signs prohibiting two-wheeled vehicles (3 consecutive signs have been installed), do not go on the overpass but go under the overpass, cutting across the entrances and exits of Terminal T3, causing traffic insecurity.

In order to ensure traffic safety at the entrances and exits of Terminal T3, the Department of Construction chaired a meeting to collect opinions from relevant units to unify the plan to renovate the geometric dimensions, install median strips, strengthen the system of signs, traffic guidance signs, and force to handle violations, etc. to ensure that drivers can travel most conveniently and comply with the traffic signal system in the area to ensure traffic order and safety. Expected to be completed in June 2025.

Traffic accidents reduced after traffic adjustment

Answering reporters' questions about the traffic situation in the Phu My bridge area, the slower traffic flow after the traffic diversion plan was adjusted, Mr. Ngo Hai Duong said that recently, on Phu My bridge, there have been a number of traffic accidents involving heavy trucks, container trucks and cars.

Therefore, to enhance traffic safety on Phu My Bridge, since May 5, the Department of Construction has adjusted the lane division, separating the lanes for cars, passenger cars, trucks of 5 tons or less and the lanes for trucks over 5 tons, semi-trailers. After 15 days of implementation, there have been no traffic accidents on Phu My Bridge.

According to Mr. Ngo Hai Duong, Phu My Bridge is the main route connecting the Western provinces with Cat Lai port, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, with high traffic density. Before the lane adjustment, traffic congestion on the bridge often occurred.

To solve this problem, the Department of Construction has planned to coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City Police, Saigon Newport Corporation and functional units to assess the overall traffic situation in the Cat Lai port area and Phu My bridge to propose further solutions to improve the traffic situation in the coming time.
