National and international delegates and speakers provided a wealth of updated information and potential solutions.

The event was organized by the Vietnam Digital Content Creation Alliance (DCCA) in collaboration with Thu Do Multimedia Joint Stock Company (Thu Do Multimedia), the Anti-Piracy Alliance (CAP) and the Asian Video Industry Association (AVIA), under the auspices of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA).

Opening the workshop, Mr. Matthew Cheetham, General Director of AVIA/CAP, presented an overview of the current situation of copyright infringement in Vietnam as well as Southeast Asian countries.

According to the latest research, Vietnam is currently one of the countries with the highest rate of digital content copyright infringement in the Asia- Pacific region.

AVIA/CAP representative shares about the copyright infringement situation in the world , including Vietnam.

Surveys by CAP and AVIA show that the percentage of Vietnamese users watching pirated content is alarmingly high. This not only directly affects content creators, businesses and the state budget, but also puts users at risk of being scammed, infected with malware and exposed to malicious ads, especially young people.

Currently, the solution of blocking illegal websites (site blocking) is evaluated by international experts as an effective solution and has proven its effectiveness in many countries. According to CAP's report, countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia... have successfully applied the process of blocking illegal websites with very clear criteria: Standardizing the verification process, coordination between Internet service providers, fast processing speed, reasonable cost, and flexibility in technical measures (DNS/IP blocking, dynamic updating).

In Vietnam, coordinated efforts between authorities, service providers, and associations and organizations have yielded initial positive results. More and more infringing websites are being blocked, creating a significant shift from illegal to legal platforms.

One can mention the Sigma Multi-DRM technology solution combined with SAO (Sigma Active Observer) developed by Thu Do Multimedia, which has been evaluated by many domestic and international experts as a new generation technology "shield", helping to protect digital content to the maximum. Sigma Multi-DRM uses artificial intelligence AI to monitor, detect and proactively prevent all interference, counterfeiting, and attacks from operating systems, services, and applications as well as detect and eliminate access via VPN - a popular method used by violators.

Representative of Thu Do Multimedia presented on challenges in copyright protection.

Many major partners in the pay TV industry such as TV360, FPT Play, VTVcab ON… have successfully applied Sigma Multi-DRM and recognized its effectiveness in preventing copyright infringement, ensuring content is distributed safely and sustainably.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Han, CEO of Thu Do Multimedia shared: "By using Sigma Multi-DRM, pay TV units in Vietnam have protected copyright very well. If we can simultaneously block illegal websites from rebroadcasting cross-border content through site blocking, most copyright infringement issues will be completely resolved."

The workshop "Strengthening international cooperation in digital content copyright protection" also recorded opinions and proposals from digital content copyright owners such as K+, VTV Go, FPT Play... This continues to be a step forward in creating a foundation for international coordination, providing new directions and advanced technological solutions to create a safe and transparent digital content environment, contributing to promoting the knowledge economy in Vietnam and the region.
