According to Bac Giang Electricity Company, since the beginning of the year, there have been 33 cases of electrical equipment theft in the province (including power grid assets managed by Bac Giang Electricity Company and power grid assets of residential areas that Bac Giang Electricity Company is selling electricity to or handing over to the Investment and Construction Project Management Boards of districts, towns, and cities), causing hundreds of millions of VND in damage (not including economic damage due to power supply interruptions).
Of which, Viet Yen town had the highest number of thefts with a total of 9 cases, causing estimated damage of more than 580 million VND.

Typically, two thefts of electrical equipment at transformer stations and sidewalk electrical cabinets in Dong Van Residential Area No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, Quang Chau Ward (Viet Yen Town) occurred on April 5 and 17. Thieves cut more than 200 low-voltage power cables, causing estimated losses to the customer (the investor of Dong Van Residential Area infrastructure) of more than 376.5 million VND.
The incident upset investors and residents in the area, disrupting power supply and significantly affecting production and people's lives.
Immediately after the incidents occurred, the investor and the Electricity sector coordinated with the police and local authorities to investigate, verify, and clarify the incident (the perpetrator has been found), and at the same time took steps to remedy the consequences.
However, there are many cases of electrical equipment theft in the province that have not yet found the culprit. The reason is that the locations of stolen power grids are often far from residential areas, in places with few people passing by, and take place at night... so detecting and finding clues to the culprit is difficult.
Faced with the above situation, the Provincial People's Committee recently issued a document directing relevant agencies and units to strengthen professional measures to prevent theft, track down criminals, ensure stable electricity supply and maintain security and order in the locality.
Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, Bac Giang Electricity Company has directed its member power companies and specialized departments and offices to strengthen inspection and evaluation of assigned power projects and works for management and operation, ensuring smooth and continuous power supply for production, business and daily life of people and enterprises; limiting the occurrence of unexpected incidents.
At the same time, dispatch forces to focus on repairing and troubleshooting problems caused by stolen electrical equipment, ensuring electricity supply for production, business and daily life activities of people and businesses.
The People's Committees of districts, towns and cities have directed the People's Committees at the commune level and relevant agencies to regularly inspect and request investors of projects and power units under their management to properly manage and operate electrical works and equipment according to regulations; ensure electricity supply for production, business and daily life, and prevent security and order hotspots from occurring in the locality.
The provincial police continue to direct the commune-level police force and specialized departments to organize investigations, verifications, and strict handling of subjects who steal and destroy electricity assets in the province. At the same time, organize forces to regularly patrol, grasp, detect, and handle complicated security and order issues in localities where electrical equipment theft occurs.
