Baoquocte.vn. On the afternoon of December 26, a workshop with the theme "Enhancing the role of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad in supporting small and medium enterprises to effectively and substantially participate in the international market" was held in Ho Chi Minh City.

The workshop is a place for businesses, experts and sectors to exchange and share experiences and solutions to promote the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Also attending the workshop were Dr. Dang Duc Anh, Deputy Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management, representatives of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) of Vietnam and the Southern region, representatives of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), SME enterprises in the fields of seafood, agricultural products, textiles, etc.
The workshop is within the framework of the Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), the Project Management Board "Promoting the role of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad in supporting small and medium enterprises to recover and integrate into the international economy".
The event was organized by the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 3 cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang (December 28) and Hanoi (December 30).
In his opening speech, Mr. Tran Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, said that although small in scale, SME enterprises play an important role in the economic development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general.
To maintain growth and promote innovation, many businesses have begun to change to adapt to the new era. However, SMEs still face many difficulties, such as limitations in capital, human resources and experience in accessing international markets.
Therefore, support from foreign representative agencies is essential to help businesses expand and develop in the international market. The network of representative agencies around the world will play an important role in connecting and facilitating SMEs to reach out to the world, expanding the global business environment.
Agreeing with Mr. Tran Xuan Thuy, Dr. To Hoai Nam, Permanent Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, said that international integration is not only a trend but also an indispensable requirement for SME enterprises.
Dr. To Hoai Nam also pointed out that SMEs are limited in financial resources, lack management skills and international experience, have limited technological innovation, have difficulty accessing information... while facing many barriers from non-tariff measures and risks of global economic fluctuations.
Meanwhile, SMEs carry the mission of bringing Vietnamese brands to the world. Therefore, the General Secretary of the SME Association believes that this is an important time to raise the issue of the accompaniment of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad with the business community.
Thereby, creating a strong, open and transparent interactive environment, in line with the Government's direction on enhancing the role of the diplomatic sector in supporting economic development. Therefore, sharing experiences will be a new driving force to help Vietnamese SMEs become more confident in the process of international integration, affirming their role in the global market.

Also at the Workshop, Ms. Nguyen Bich Thuy, Director of the Project Management Board, Deputy Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that through the connecting and supporting role of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, it is possible to help SMEs receive support and access the international environment, as well as open up new cooperation opportunities for these businesses, helping businesses "reach out to the big sea".
On the other hand, Ms. Thuy said that through these exchanges, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad will better understand the actual situation and needs of business associations. From there, they can develop appropriate policies and solutions to enhance support for businesses in accessing information and expanding markets.
At the workshop, delegates participated in two discussion sessions. Session 1 was on SME enterprises’ participation in international economic integration, session 2 was on improving the effectiveness of supporting enterprises of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.
In particular, delegates participated in lively discussions, pointing out opportunities and challenges for SMEs in accessing and exploiting foreign markets as well as measures to support businesses from Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.
