It is expected that in 2024, the total number of visitors staying in the city will reach 10.3 million, an increase of 39% compared to 2023. The revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel for the whole year is estimated to reach more than 38,000 billion VND, an increase of 37% compared to 2023, equal to 178% compared to 2019 (the peak period of Da Nang tourism ). To achieve this goal as well as create momentum for the new year, the tourism industry is making efforts to attract visitors, especially during the Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays.

Create a highlight for Da Nang destination
Following previous successful events, the city organized a Christmas and New Year 2025 festival to promote and increase the attractiveness of Da Nang as a destination at the end of the year. Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the City Tourism Association, said that this is the first year Da Nang has included this activity in the city's tourism promotion activities, creating a new attraction for tourists.
“In recent years, Da Nang has had almost no low season, from October to April, which is usually the season for European, Australian and American visitors. The city is welcoming this source of visitors very well thanks to changes in the product ecosystem, convenient flight routes, more suitable service infrastructure and increased experiences for this type of visitor. This year, the Christmas and New Year 2025 festival event is expected to attract more visitors to Da Nang in addition to the forecasted number of visitors. These are visitors with high sensitivity to events, foreign visitors from Europe, Australia, America, Korea, Japan, etc. working in Vietnam; domestic visitors at both ends of the big city…”, Mr. Dung shared.
According to Mr. Dung, in this series of activities, the City Tourism Association coordinates with the media to organize activities to respond to the survey and promotion delegations to Da Nang. In particular, the association's large enterprises will have many programs at hotels and destinations to join the city in creating a bustling "picture" for the Christmas season; thereby, visitors to Da Nang this season will have a variety of products to choose from.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Hoai An, in the last months of the year, the city's tourism industry will implement events, festivals, and tourism products such as announcing the Da Nang Food Tour campaign; expected charter flights from Jakarta (Indonesia) - Da Nang operated by Citilinks in December; continue to promote the opening of direct international flights from China, Japan (Nagoya, Osaka), Australia, Qatar... to Da Nang; implement check-in models and activities to welcome Christmas and New Year 2025...
“For a long time, Da Nang has not been the most attractive destination at the end of the year, so the Christmas and New Year 2025 festival is a tourism product expected to attract a large number of visitors; it will be upgraded and organized annually in the future. We expect to organize a truly explosive festival in public spaces, creating new products for tourists, contributing to bringing the total number of visitors staying in the city to over 10 million, an increase of nearly 40% compared to 2023,” Ms. Hoai An expressed.

Driving the Market in 2025
The tourism business community in the city has also introduced specialized products to exploit during the Christmas and New Year seasons. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Director of Hai Van Cat International Travel Company, said that for the "inbound" market (bringing international visitors) and domestic visitors to Da Nang, a common stimulus package will be used: incentives, promotions, discounts, and side events based on the danangfantasticity channel of the City Tourism Promotion Center.
“The company closely follows the city's tourism industry's programs and policies to update customers. As soon as the city plans to organize a festival to welcome Christmas - New Year 2025, we will promote the festival event to potential markets that can attract attention on fanpages and tiktok. In addition, Da Nang currently has direct flights to Sa Pa, Da Nang - Da Lat, Da Nang - Nha Trang (opening in December), Da Nang - Phu Quoc... very convenient to exploit the number of visitors to the city in late 2024 and early 2025," said Mr. Thien.
The end of the year is also the time when Da Nang attracts MICE (meetings, conferences, seminars, and exhibitions) groups. Mr. Huynh Thanh Son, General Director of DANAGO Tourism Joint Stock Company, shared that the company focuses on exploiting the domestic tourist market mainly with tours to Da Nang. To stimulate tourism demand at the end of the year, the company proactively promotes communication activities, enhances the promotion of images, products and services to customers; focuses on improving service quality, ensuring the best experience for customers. Many tourism businesses in the city have reached the planned milestone of 2024 but are constantly striving to prepare plans to take the lead in the market in 2025.
Director of Visit Indochina Tourism Company Nguyen Son Thuy said that, basically, in the fourth quarter of 2024, the company has completed the plan, the programs from now until the end of the year have been implemented. At the same time, the company has a plan for 2025 such as registering to participate in international fairs in countries in the region Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, India; organizing many famtrip groups for foreign travel agencies to travel and survey in Da Nang, Hoi An, Da Lat, Sa Pa, Hanoi , Phu Quoc; international tourism promotion, building MICE tourism products, resorts, golf, individual customers... are also ready for 2025.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, the tourism industry has been implementing plans for 2025 such as promoting communications, restoring some flight routes, working with airlines to launch new routes connecting Da Nang with new markets: Indonesia, Australia; Southeast Asian markets with cultural similarities, flights near Da Nang, convenient visas...
