On the afternoon of January 3, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online conference to review the work in 2023 and deploy the plan for 2024 of the agriculture and rural development sector. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and directed the conference. At the Phu Yen bridge, comrade Le Tan Ho, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of departments and branches attended the conference.
In 2023, the agricultural sector will maintain high growth momentum and develop comprehensively. GDP growth in the agricultural sector will reach 3.83%, the highest in recent years, contributing greatly to the 5.05% growth of the country's economy .
Total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products was over 53 billion USD, the highest trade surplus ever (12.07 billion USD, up 43.7%); new rural construction has 6,370/8,167 (78%) communes meeting new rural standards.
In addition, the agricultural sector has focused on developing, submitting for promulgation and effectively implementing many important projects, programs, mechanisms and policies, such as: rural industry development strategy; project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality rice; support to improve the efficiency of livestock farming activities...
In 2024, the agriculture and rural development sector targets a GDP growth rate of 3-3.5%. Of which, the growth rate of production value in the crop sector will increase from 2-2.2%; livestock from 4-5%; and aquaculture from 3.7-4%.
Total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products is about 54-55 billion USD; 80% of communes meet new rural standards; forest coverage remains stable at 42.02%; 58% of rural households use clean water according to standards...
In Phu Yen, in 2023, the estimated value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production is about 13,834 billion VND, up 0.6% of the plan and up 3.28% compared to 2022. Of which, agriculture reached about 8,809 billion VND, up 4.33%; forestry reached 455 billion VND, down 7.24%; fishery reached 4,568 billion VND, up 3.03%.
In the whole province, 15 new agricultural cooperatives were established; 181/249 new OCOP products were recognized; 1 new rural commune and 1 advanced new rural commune were recognized, bringing the total number of communes meeting new rural standards in the whole province to 64/83 communes.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the efforts of the agricultural sector in 2023. The Prime Minister suggested that in 2024, the agricultural sector continue to promote restructuring towards developing ecological, modern agriculture and circular economy; especially sustainable, transparent and responsible agriculture.
