Currently, the power situation in the North has eased thanks to increased transmission capacity from the South and Central regions. Some places have had rain and the heat has temporarily subsided. According to a survey on June 10, in the North, the situation of power outages and proactive rotating power cuts has decreased.

According to a quick report from the Department of Industrial Safety and Environment ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), on June 10, the water flow to hydroelectric reservoirs increased compared to June 9, but was still low. Reservoirs in the Northern, North Central, and Southeastern regions have exceeded the dead water level by more than 1 meter, but are still at low water levels, approximately at the dead water level.
Therefore, some hydropower plants have resumed operation but have to generate electricity at a low level with low water column and capacity such as: Son La, Lai Chau , Huoi Quang, Ban Chat, Thac Ba, Tuyen Quang, Hua Na, Trung Son, Thac Mo.
To support hydropower plants in the North to cope with severe drought, the National Power System Dispatch Center said it has raised the short-term transmission capacity threshold to 2,600MVA on the 500kV Nho Quan - Nghi Son 2 - Ha Tinh line in the South - North direction during some peak hours, to prioritize the goal of retaining water for multi-purpose hydropower reservoirs in the North.

Following the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, coal-fired thermal power plants that have had incidents in recent times are being urgently repaired to resume power generation, promptly supporting the struggling hydropower system.
On June 10, Mr. Vo Manh Ha, Director of Nghi Son Thermal Power Company (Power Generation Corporation 1) - the unit managing and operating Nghi Son Thermal Power Plant 1, said that Unit 1 of this plant had an incident on June 5, and is expected to complete repair and equipment inspection work on June 13 to be ready for operation, contributing to providing the Northern grid with an additional 7 million kWh per day, reducing the pressure of the power shortage currently occurring in the Northern region.
Regarding Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant, Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh, Deputy Head of Thai Binh 2 Oil and Gas Thermal Power Project Management Board, said that after a temporary shutdown for repairs, on the morning of June 10, Unit S2 was restarted and the electricity output supplied to the North will reach 13 million kWh/day.
To ensure fuel for thermal power projects to operate in the context of hydropower difficulties, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that so far, coal and gas supply has been ensured as directed.
