Creating a new mark in the work of the Association and the women's movement in the capital

On the morning of November 21, the Hanoi Women's Union organized the 17th Congress of City Women's Delegates, term 2025-2030. This is an important political event, a great festival for women in the capital.

Attending the Congress were comrades: Nguyen Thi Tuyen, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Nguyen Trong Dong, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

Also attending were leaders and former leaders of the Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 446 official delegates representing the intelligence and aspirations of women of all classes in the capital.

Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Chairwoman of the Hanoi Women's Union Le Kim Anh stated that the 17th Hanoi Women's Congress took place at a very special time, right after the success of the 18th City Party Congress and the 18th City Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress, term 2025-2030. The entire political system has actively streamlined the organizational apparatus, implementing the 2-level local government model. Women's Unions at all levels nationwide are proud to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union.

With the motto "Solidarity, creativity, aspiration, development", the Hanoi Women's Union is determined to "Promote the thousand-year tradition of civilization and heroism, Hanoi women are united, intelligent, and aspire to rise up in the new era, build a strong Union organization; contribute to promoting gender equality; develop a civilized, modern, and happy capital".

Speaking at the Congress, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen acknowledged, commended and congratulated the outstanding achievements that women of all walks of life and the Hanoi Women's Union at all levels have achieved in the past term.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Tuyen emphasized that the Association's activities must always put members and women at the center, taking the legitimate and legal rights and interests, and the progress of women as the goal; taking women's consensus as a measure of operational effectiveness. Strongly arousing the will of self-respect, independence, self-reliance, and the aspiration to rise up of each woman.

The City Women's Union needs to focus on effectively implementing the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean, 3 safe", building practical models such as "Safe houses for women and children", community care service models, paying special attention to specific target groups. Specify and effectively implement the movement "Building a new-age Vietnamese woman" associated with the emulation movement contents of the city's women.

In addition, effectively implement the Government's projects in the city, especially the project "Supporting women to start a business in the period 2026-2035" and projects proposed by the City Women's Union such as "Ensuring a safe environment for women and children in public places", "Digital transformation in all levels of the Hanoi Women's Union by 2030"...

At the same time, promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in the activities of the Union and support for women; implement information technology in all activities, especially digital startups and digital businesses. The City Women's Union must take the lead, become a bright spot, and lead women nationwide in digital transformation.

Speaking at the Congress, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Trong Dong emphasized that women in the capital and the city's Women's Union have made extremely important contributions, from participating in Party building and government building to socio-economic development, maintaining social order and safety, taking care of social security, protecting the environment, and spreading the beauty of "elegant and civilized" Hanoians.

The Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee believes that the Congress will select comrades who are exemplary in qualities, abilities, and prestige, with a reasonable structure, and are capable of leading the capital's women's movement in the new term.

He requested that, immediately after the Congress, the Executive Committee of the 17th term urgently issue working regulations, assign tasks and implement the Congress Resolution to all levels of the Union, creating strong and synchronous changes. On this occasion, he requested that the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front, departments, branches and socio-political organizations of the city continue to pay attention and create conditions for the capital's women's movement to develop comprehensively and sustainably.

“ Promoting the heroic, indomitable, loyal and courageous tradition; the thousand-year-old cultural tradition of Thang Long-Hanoi; with the spirit of solidarity, creativity and aspiration to rise up, I believe that the 17th City Women's Congress will be a great success, creating a new mark in the work of the Association and the women's movement in the capital”, the Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee emphasized.

At the Congress, 100% of delegates elected the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Women's Union for the 17th term, 2025-2030, consisting of 65 comrades.

In the period of 2021-2025, the Hanoi Women's Union at all levels has supported women in economic development and business start-ups, achieving many outstanding results through credit and good management of capital of more than 10,389 billion VND, helping nearly 150,000 members borrow to develop the economy; 8,672 poor and near-poor households were helped by the Union to escape poverty; 11,250 women were supported to start businesses and start-ups. Taking care of women and children with 585 charity homes with a total value of 26.58 billion VND; 1,123 orphans were connected and sponsored with a total support fund of 11.53 billion VND...
