Muong Lai commune currently has 7 villages meeting new rural standards and 4 villages meeting new rural model standards - a remarkable result in the context of the new administrative unit coming into operation. Contributing a small part to this effort, the commune Women's Union has actively participated in many practical activities.
Ms. Hoang Thi Ha - President of the Commune Women's Union, said: "Currently, the whole association has over 4,400 members, operating at 36 grassroots associations. To promote the role of members in building new rural areas, in recent times, the association has developed a plan, guided grassroots associations to promote propaganda, linking new rural construction with the movements of the association. At the same time, every year, the association directs grassroots associations to register to carry out 1 project to contribute to building new rural areas and civilized urban areas. Through many solutions to propagate, mobilize, and support people to build toilets, bathrooms, and water tanks that are hygienic and ensure 3 clean, organize 84 propaganda sessions, instruct over 3,800 officials and members on the 8 criteria of the campaign associated with the criteria for building new rural areas".
In the period of 2021 - 2025, in Muong Lai commune, 5,059/5,680 households have hygienic toilets, reaching 89%; nearly 5,000 households have hygienic bathrooms, equal to 87.3%; 97.7% of households have hygienic water tanks... At the same time, the commune's Women's Union coordinated with mass organizations to propagate and mobilize people to donate land to expand 9.4 km of roads, 3,700m2 to build new rural areas; planted 7 flower roads over 3.6 km long with a cost of 19,000,000 VND; built 7 rural road lighting projects with a length of 1.9 km in 3 villages, a cost of 14,000,000 VND; renewed 46 LED lamp posts with a length of 3.7 km, a cost of 79,900,000 VND; Carry out cleaning and renovating cultural houses, and periodically clean village roads and alleys.
Many creative models have been effectively implemented, typically: "Self-managed women's road", "Helping poor women have addresses", "Shelter of love". At the same time, 70 model signs "Clean house, beautiful garden" and women's association "5 no, 3 clean" have also been installed at the activity points. Currently, there are 18 households implementing adjacent models in the villages: Na Lai, Mo Cao, Cao Khanh, Khau Sen, Dong Thanh, Yen Thinh, Pu Thao, Trung Tam, Yen Phu, village 4...

Not only in Muong Lai commune, the Women's Union of Bao Thang commune has also actively carried out tasks contributing to the construction of new rural areas. Over the past 5 years, the union has organized the planting of 15 km of new flower roads, built 78 km of electricity lines, 88 km of flag roads; mobilized and helped 174 households to meet 8 criteria, bringing the total number of households in the commune to 4,346 achieving "Clean House, Beautiful Garden"; improved the living environment for 102 households, maintained 21 "Clean House, Beautiful Garden" clubs with 735 members, maintained 4 flower nursery models. In addition, coordinated the mobilization of 53,000 m2 of land, 2,198 working days to expand 15.7 km of roads; eliminated 197 dilapidated houses for poor households, policy households, and households in difficult circumstances; supported the construction of 296 new toilets.
At the same time, the association coordinated with the Commune People's Committee to mobilize people to plant 1,500 trees on the occasion of the New Year Tree Planting; organized 12 propaganda sessions to limit the use of plastic waste; coordinated to give 2,100 energy-saving stoves and 905 water filters to members; maintained 49 models of women self-managing traffic routes; effectively implemented the movement "Wide roads, airy and civilized sidewalks, garbage-free hamlets, every household joins hands". Every month, environmental sanitation activities and embellishment of cultural houses, village roads and alleys are maintained regularly on the last Saturday of the month.
To achieve such positive results, Ms. Luong Thi Thu - Vice President of the Women's Union of Bao Thang commune, shared: "The Union has focused on effectively implementing the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" associated with the program of building new rural areas and civilized urban areas. Every year, the Union has proactively advised local Party committees and authorities, coordinated with relevant departments and branches to review households that have not met the 8 criteria of the campaign to guide and support in many creative ways, suitable to the conditions, circumstances of the families of members, women and the actual situation of the locality".
Currently, the whole province has over 150,000 women's union member households meeting 8 criteria of "5 no, 3 clean"; 25 models of "5 yes, 3 clean"/528 participating households in 23 advanced new rural communes, model new rural areas. In the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind", in the period of 2021 - 2025, union members have helped each other with 28,580 working days; 25,600 seedlings and animals of all kinds; 75 tons of rice, corn, paddy; nearly 2.2 billion in interest-free cash loans. Thereby, 2,733 poor women's households were recognized as escaping poverty.
Along with that, the association mobilized members to support the construction of 176 "Warm Houses of Love", "Happy Houses", "Houses of Great Unity"...; maintained and expanded 2,352 effective models, such as: "Flower Roads, Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful, Safe Roads", "Clean Houses, Beautiful Gardens", "Women's Association of 5 No's, 3 Cleans to Build New Rural Areas", "Self-managed Women's Groups to Protect the Environment"...; Women's Union members' families donated over 15.6 hectares of land to build inter-village roads...

Excited about the results achieved, Ms. Hoang Phuong Thuy - Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, said: "The implementation of the new rural criteria has the participation and contribution of female cadres and members. The most prominent are the criteria on traffic routes, residential housing, income, multidimensional poor households, environment and food safety. With creativity and different ways of doing things, the union organizations have organized many rich and diverse activities, affirming the role and position of women in building new rural areas, contributing to helping localities complete the criteria and targets according to the plan."
In practice, the role of women in the family and society is increasingly affirmed, clearly demonstrated through practical actions and specific contributions to the community. The solidarity and unity of women have created a sustainable resource, contributing significantly to the construction of new rural areas, making Lao Cai greener, cleaner and developing in a sustainable and civilized direction.
