Prolonged floods in many provinces and cities have disrupted people's lives, cut off traffic, and affected the supply of essential goods in some places.

In traditional markets or distribution systems, green vegetables and fresh food are the most volatile commodity groups, clearly reflecting the impact of weather on the market and consumer psychology. Meanwhile, in isolated or inaccessible areas, the need to ensure access to essential goods for people becomes even more urgent.

In that context, the question is how solutions to ensure the supply of goods and stabilize the market have been implemented, especially for green vegetables, a group of products consumed daily and largely dependent on the season.

To clarify these issues, Vietnam News Agency reporters had an interview with Mr. Do Van Tinh - Head of Supply and Demand Forecasting and Balancing Department (Domestic Market Management and Development Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade ) about the measures being implemented, the ability to restore supply and forecasts for the market in the coming time.

- Could you please tell us what solutions the Ministry of Industry and Trade has implemented to ensure that the supply of vegetables and essential goods is not interrupted after floods, especially in isolated areas or areas with traffic disruption?

Mr. Do Van Tinh: Recently, the continuous rain and flood situation in the Northern and Central provinces has had a profound impact on social security in general and the supply of green vegetables in particular. To ensure the supply of goods, especially essential goods for people in all regions, contributing to market stabilization, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Official Dispatch No. 7492/CD-BCT dated October 1, 2025 of the Minister of Industry and Trade on ensuring the supply of essential goods to stabilize the market during the rainy and stormy season and the end of 2025; in which, the Department of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities was directed to ensure adequate supply of essential goods and goods for post-storm recovery in areas affected by storms and floods.

At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has directed commercial businesses and manufacturing enterprises to increase production capacity to ensure adequate supply of goods to localities, focus resources on transporting and supplying essential goods in their distribution systems, prioritizing supply to areas affected by storms and floods; actively coordinate to provide essential goods to people, especially in areas isolated by storms and floods.

- In the context of sharp increases in vegetable prices due to supply chain disruptions, can you share how the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to coordinate with localities and businesses to stabilize prices and increase supply to the market?

Mr. Do Van Tinh: Due to heavy rain and storms causing long-term flooding in many large vegetable growing areas in the North and Central regions, many areas of green vegetables have been damaged, causing a local reduction in the supply of green vegetables in some places, causing the price of green vegetables to increase dramatically. However, this is also a crop with a short growth period and quick harvest. At the same time, households, establishments and businesses growing vegetables have also planned to increase cultivation to meet the increased demand at the end of the year, so the supply will soon stabilize in the near future.

On the side of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to ensure the supply of essential goods at the end of the year and during the Lunar New Year, including green vegetables, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is drafting a Directive on implementing solutions to ensure supply-demand balance and market stabilization during the end of the year and during the Lunar New Year.

The Ministry will direct the Department of Industry and Trade of localities to focus on coordinating with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and functional units to closely monitor the production situation, weather developments, epidemics, damage after storms and floods, assess production capacity, the ability to restore production after natural disasters to have plans to ensure supply and stabilize the market of essential agricultural products and foods at the end of the year and the Lunar New Year 2026.

Thank you very much!
