For this 55-year-old woman, participating in social work to serve the people is a daily belief and love. She often stays close to the people to guide them to practice civilized lifestyle, cultured family, practice eating cooked food, drinking boiled water, sleeping under mosquito nets, using clean water, environmental sanitation; applying family planning measures to take care of healthy and well-behaved children.
“Mrs. Mai often visits the villagers, especially when it rains heavily and is windy. Whenever a family’s house or garden is damaged by storms, she is there to encourage and share; at the same time, she mobilizes villagers to donate and help families in difficult circumstances. In times like these, Mrs. Mai is the first to help so that the villagers can follow suit…” - said party member Pham Ngoc Cuong, Party cell of Hamlet K54, Loc Tan commune.
Studying and following Uncle Ho's example, Ms. Hoang Thi Mai always fully understands the assigned responsibilities and tasks, and is always enthusiastic in her work. She often goes to groups and residential areas to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the people, combining propaganda and mobilizing people to donate land to build residential roads. As a result, on the residential roads of the hamlet, 5.4km of asphalt roads with a width of 5-6m have been constructed; 16.8km of concrete roads with a width of 3.5m-4.5m and 2km of asphalt roads; 21.8km of roads with electric lights...
To quickly construct asphalt and concrete roads through 9 groups of hamlet K54, Ms. Mai directly mobilized benefactors and farms to receive 35 million VND and together with the people in the hamlet repaired damaged dirt roads. Ms. Mai was also the one who proactively gathered the women in the hamlet to actively participate in building movements and models such as: household waste pits, waste classification; purchasing and supporting the consumption of agricultural products of farmers; saving money by raising piggy banks to support poor households, those in difficult circumstances, and the elderly living alone; building a scholarship fund to support children in difficult circumstances to go to school and establishing a folk dance team for cultural and artistic activities in the commune.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Ms. Hoang Thi Mai and the Party Cell and Hamlet K54 Committee mobilized 350 gifts, worth 140 million VND and 2 tons of rice and other necessities to help victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, people in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people, people with disabilities, orphans...
