Create conditions for Chinese companies operating in the field of environmental protection to promote investment in Thanh Hoa

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the afternoon of August 6, Comrade Mai Xuan Liem, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province chaired a working session with the delegation of Nanning Water Supply and Drainage Investment Group Co., Ltd., Kien Ninh, China to explore investment opportunities in Thanh Hoa. Attending the meeting were representatives of relevant departments, branches and localities.

At the meeting, Mr. Luu Kim Ho, Deputy General Director, General Legal Advisor of Nanning Water Supply and Drainage Investment Group Co., Ltd., Kien Ninh, China introduced the scale and capacity in the business's fields of operation.

Accordingly, the Company operates in the main areas of urban water supply, wastewater treatment, water environment treatment and solid waste treatment. With experience in planning, investing, constructing and operating environmental protection projects, the Company expressed its desire to cooperate with Thanh Hoa province in this field.

In Thanh Hoa province, Nanning Water Supply and Drainage Investment Group Co., Ltd. is studying the project of a regional centralized solid waste treatment area in Xuan Phu commune, Tho Xuan district, now Sao Vang commune. Before the working session, the Company's working group conducted a field survey at the project planning site. Based on the initial overview assessment, the working group discussed and learned more about some issues that the business is interested in.

Regarding the project of the Centralized Solid Waste Treatment Area at the regional level in Sao Vang commune, a representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said that the project was approved by the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1708 dated June 2, 2025, with an area of 18.74 hectares; designed capacity to treat 1,000 tons of waste/day; generating electricity with a capacity of 12 MW; total estimated investment capital of about 1,257 billion VND.

The project is implemented in the form of bidding to select investors according to the provisions of law. The goal is to build a daily solid waste treatment area, which can combine the treatment of part of the common industrial solid waste, using waste-to-energy incineration technology.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem welcomed the interest and goodwill to invest in the field of environmental protection of Nanning Water Supply and Drainage Investment Group Company Limited. He said that Thanh Hoa province is very interested in environmental protection, and the need to treat domestic waste in the province is very urgent. Therefore, the province welcomes the company's participation in this field.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities to support, provide information, accompany businesses in the process of researching project investment, and promote effective cooperation.

At the same time, it is recommended that Nanning Water Supply and Drainage Investment Group Co., Ltd. continue to contact and coordinate with the departments, branches and localities of the province to carry out investment promotion steps, towards completing procedures to implement the project of the Centralized Solid Waste Treatment Area at the regional level in Xuan Phu commune, Tho Xuan district, now Sao Vang commune. Thereby contributing to environmental protection through converting waste into renewable energy sources, while bringing practical values to the community, in line with the green development orientation of the province. Thanh Hoa province will create favorable conditions within the legal framework for the company to operate in the province.
