Focus on site clearance, speed up dredging of 3 streams to prevent flooding

(DN) - On May 25, Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee Do Khoi Nguyen inspected the actual progress of the dredging project to prevent flooding at 3 streams: Chua stream, Ba Lua stream and Cau Quan stream. These are 3 streams flowing through the wards: Long Binh Tan, An Hoa and Phuoc Tan, often causing flooding in residential areas as well as traffic during the rainy season in Bien Hoa City.

Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee and leaders of departments and 3 wards inspected the project of dredging and preventing flooding of Ba Lua stream.

The project to prevent flooding of 3 streams is 5.8km long, passing through 3 wards: Long Binh Tan, An Hoa and Phuoc Tan. To implement the project, Bien Hoa City must reclaim land from 500 households with a total area of 14.32 hectares. The total number of households subject to complete clearance is 88 households.

According to the Bien Hoa City Land Fund Development Center, up to now, Long Binh Tan Ward has handed over 96% of the land, An Hoa 93%, Phuoc Tan 83%. However, in reality, there are still many difficulties in land clearance when many households have not been approved for resettlement, in some cases the landowner has passed away so relatives use the land by hand, many households have not found the landowner so they cannot receive compensation for the land... In addition, currently along the stream, the electricity and water systems have not been relocated, causing difficulties in construction work.

Through the actual inspection, Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee Do Khoi Nguyen requested the Bien Hoa City Land Fund Development Center to coordinate with the sectors and localities where the stream passes through to remove the difficulties encountered, especially for households that are stuck with procedures for land origin confirmation. For households that have completed compensation and resettlement support procedures according to regulations but refuse to relocate and hand over the site, they will be forced to do so. In addition, the Bien Hoa City Project Management Board needs to speed up the completion of infrastructure in neighboring resettlement areas to arrange households that are eligible for resettlement to promptly hand over the site for project construction.

Regarding the project investor, the Dong Nai Province Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee requested that the unit urge the contractor to focus on project construction in areas that have been cleared and handed over, and organize effective construction plans even during the rainy season, but must ensure the safety of workers as well as people living along both sides of the stream.

The Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee requested the People's Committees of wards adjacent to the streams under construction to strengthen propaganda and mobilization work to encourage households, especially children in the area, not to gather near the streams to avoid unfortunate accidents.
