The “interception and destruction of two unidentified threats” occurred in waters about 110 km off the coast of Yemen. The UAVs were launched from the Houthi-controlled port city of Al Hudaydah.
The French ship Languedoc has been deployed to the Indian Ocean region since August and recently accompanied the US aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower through the Strait of Hormuz to enter the Persian Gulf, according to The Jerusalem Post .
Earlier in the day, Houthi forces in Yemen threatened to attack any ships heading towards Israeli ports if food and medicine were not delivered to people in the Gaza Strip.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the Red Sea and surrounding waters following a series of naval attacks by Houthi forces since the Hamas-Israel conflict erupted on October 7.

The Houthis have recently attacked ships they believe are linked to Israel, but the latest warning means they have expanded their targets. Hamas, the Gaza Strip's main force, welcomed the Houthis' "brave and bold" decision, AFP reported, calling on all Arab and Muslim countries to do everything they can to end the siege on Gaza.
Last week, a US warship while assisting commercial vessels in the Red Sea shot down three UAVs launched from Yemen.
