After the impact of storm No. 3, tourism activities in Ha Long Bay are gradually recovering. Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Vu Kien Cuong, Head of Ha Long Bay Management Board, said that tourist boat tours carrying passengers officially welcomed guests again from July 23.
Specifically, on July 23, the number of visitors reached about 4,500 - only 1/4 compared to the average level of a normal day before storm No. 3 occurred. Of which, domestic visitors accounted for 514, international visitors reached 4,480.
Similarly, on July 24, the number of tickets sold increased to about 7,000, reaching about 1/3 of the average. Of which, about 1,503 were Vietnamese visitors and 5,680 were foreign visitors. This is a sign that the tourism industry is gradually recovering after being affected by bad weather.

"This partly reflects the cautious psychology of domestic tourists after the recent natural disaster. Meanwhile, international tourists seem to be less affected psychologically and continue to book tours again," said Mr. Cuong.
According to the assessment of the Head of the Bay Management Board, the current time is the peak tourist season for domestic visitors, lasting until the end of August. Meanwhile, this is not the golden season to welcome international visitors.
Therefore, the number of foreign visitors increasing at an overwhelming rate compared to Vietnamese visitors is quite surprising and positive. Therefore, restoring the psychology and confidence of domestic visitors during this period is considered extremely important.
Dan Tri reporters also conducted a survey of some cruise tour operators taking tourists to Ha Long Bay at this time and received similar results.
A representative of Paradise Vietnam said that only about 10% of Vietnamese tourists postponed or canceled their tours during this time. The company is ready to refund customers who need it. Although it is not yet the peak season, the company still welcomes 60% to 65% of international tourists.
Foreign tourist groups continue to choose to charter (rent the whole ship) to visit Ha Long Bay. In addition, international tourists choose to book a hotel combo combined with a restaurant cruise for 4 hours in the evening with a good number of bookings, fully booked on weekends.
Similarly, an agency specializing in Ha Long cruise tours said that although the number of domestic tourists has shown signs of slow growth, international tourists are still quite positive. This weekend, the unit is expected to be fully booked.
Regarding the work of ensuring safety for tourists, the Ha Long Bay Management Board is currently closely coordinating with related units, especially the Department of Transport (formerly the Department of Construction) to issue specific and detailed guidance documents.
Regulations to ensure vehicle safety, operating procedures as well as information for tourists are fully implemented. In addition, close monitoring of weather forecasts is also emphasized to promptly respond, ensuring maximum safety for tourists.
With efforts from authorities and initial signs of recovery, Quang Ninh province expects the tourism industry to soon regain growth momentum, especially when the weather stabilizes again.
