This 1992 Mazda RX-7 VeilSide featured in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift is so stunning that someone just paid £911,000 ($1.22 million) to buy it. Believed to be one of only two cars produced for the film, this car is definitely one of the most famous cars in the Fast and Furious series in part 3 Tokyo Drift.
The "Fortune" body kit on the car replaces all the original RX-7 panels, except for the hood and tailgate. Unlike many cars in the movie, which are just replicas. Specifically, this is a real Mazda RX-7 from the design, chassis to the engine. In fact, it still takes advantage of the twin-rotor turbo engine.
What's more, the tuning experts at RE-Amemiya gave it a major overhaul before selling it. According to the auction listing, the car has around 280 horsepower, but it weighs just 1,050 kg. The engine isn’t the only part that’s been recently overhauled. Prior to the auction, the car received new clutch, brakes, coil springs, and a Blitz Nur-Spec exhaust system. If that wasn’t enough, the car still has the original NOS system inside the cabin, just waiting for the new owner to install it. The cabin is fully equipped with VeilSide seats, carbon fiber, aluminum, and chrome trim.
It's worth noting that this isn't a perfect car, as seen in the close-up photos, so there's some wear and tear both inside and out. Some of the weatherstripping looks old, some of the panels are flawed, and the car has been sitting for a while. Video : Mazda RX-7 in the movie Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift.
