Tay Ninh continues to create momentum to attract tourists

In recent years, Tay Ninh tourism industry has recovered and is developing strongly, becoming a bright spot in the local economic and social picture.

Tay Ninh tourism industry has exploited well the existing potentials, advantages and tourism resources, developing regional linkages with Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast provinces.

Promote potential and strengths

As one of the 6 provinces and cities in the Southeast region including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong , Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh is famous for Ba Den Mountain, known as the "roof of the South;" if the special feature of Ba Ria-Vung Tau is "going down to the sea," the special feature of Tay Ninh is "going up to the forest."

Tay Ninh is endowed by nature with many scenic spots and historical-cultural relics, from the Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area, Tay Ninh Holy See, Dau Tieng Lake, the Central Office of the Southern Region's Special National Historical Relic Site, Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park... During the peak of the dry season in the Southeast, there are times when the heat is 39-40 degrees Celsius, but the temperature on the top of Ba Den Mountain is always 8-10 degrees Celsius lower, like another world. Having a border of nearly 240km with the Kingdom of Cambodia and 16 border gates is also an advantage for this locality to develop tourism.

In terms of culture and cuisine, for many years now, Tay Ninh has been famous for dishes that seem simple, but are truly "admired" by many people, such as mixed rice paper, sun-dried rice paper, young beef, rice noodles, chili salt, vegetarian dishes... In 2023, the chili salt making profession and the art of preparing vegetarian dishes of Tay Ninh were recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

According to Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tay Ninh province Tran Anh Minh, the province has 96 ranked relics; including 1 Special National Relic, 27 National Relics, 68 Provincial Relics distributed in 9 districts, towns and cities and 8 National Intangible Cultural Heritages recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Also according to Mr. Tran Anh Minh, in recent years, Tay Ninh has oriented to develop a synchronous connection of key tourist attractions (Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area, Tay Ninh Cao Dai Holy See, Dau Tieng Lake, Special National Monument of the Southern Central Bureau Base) along with a group of tourist attractions with a connecting and spreading role (ASEAN Heritage Park - Lo Go - Xa Mat National Park) and a system of relics in the area with its own unique cultural and historical characteristics.

In particular, the Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area has been identified by Tay Ninh Province as the focus of development and a guide to local tourism. Therefore, Ba Den Mountain is increasingly invested in with many unique spiritual works.

In 2023, Ba Den Mountain will reach 5 million cable car passengers. Meanwhile, by the end of July this year, Ba Den Mountain officially reached 4 million cable car passengers. This is considered a positive sign showing that the number of visitors to Ba Den Mountain this year promises to increase significantly, especially at the end of the year.

Ms. Tran Hoai Thanh My, a resident of Ca Mau province, believes that convenient transportation and attractive destinations are plus points for Tay Ninh in terms of tourism. According to Ms. My, if in the past, her family only went to Ba Den Mountain and then returned, now there are more places to explore and experience. Although night tourism has not yet developed, taking advantage of this time to explore Tay Ninh cuisine is the most suitable thing.

Statistics for the first 7 months of this year show that the number of tourists to Tay Ninh reached 3.7 million, with total tourism revenue reaching 2,024 billion VND, up 39.4% over the same period last year.

The above figures show the correctness of the Central and local authorities' previous planning of Tay Ninh province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, the goal is set for 2030, tourism services will be one of the main driving forces for growth associated with the development of new spaces, making Tay Ninh one of the centers for tourism service development in the Southeast region and the whole country.

To achieve this goal, Tay Ninh functional units have had many activities; from promoting tourism trade to foreign countries, organizing festivals, developing types of industrial tourism, river tourism, traditional craft villages, entertainment, culture... or coordinating with neighboring localities of Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc to survey and complete the tour "1 route - 3 destinations"...

Since 2020, Tay Ninh has signed a cooperation agreement to develop tourism in the Southeast region for the period 2020-2025 between 6 provinces and cities in the region. In mid-August, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province and Saigon Tourist Group also officially signed a cooperation agreement to develop tourism for the period 2024-2029.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh, Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, commented that the signing of the cooperation agreement with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities in the region is very important, marking a new step in the development of cooperation in the field of tourism, contributing to promoting cooperation in tourism development, investment promotion, development of tourism products and services; training and developing human resources, making tourism in the Southeast region in general and Tay Ninh tourism in particular become an important economic sector in the coming time.

“The signing of cooperation agreements on tourism development will help exploit the potential and advantages of each locality in the region. Especially in the process of developing tourism products, localities will have the opportunity to promote their strengths, complement each other with new tourism products, and increase connectivity. Thereby, increasing the quality of tourism in the Southeast region, helping to spread local tourism products to the international market,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tay Ninh province, the locality is implementing many projects and plans on tourism development, especially plans to promote tourist destinations and tourism products; focusing on attracting strategic investors, thereby contributing to promoting the unique intangible cultural values of the province.

In addition, Tay Ninh also attracts investment in high-quality tourism infrastructure systems such as 3-5 star hotels, shopping centers, entertainment centers, and standard dining facilities. At the same time, Tay Ninh also strengthens tourism promotion activities, safe tourist destinations, stimulates domestic tourism, links tourism routes between provinces and cities; gradually attracts and expands the international tourism market.

However, there is another important factor that can help Tay Ninh tourism really break through, but to do so, it needs great help and support from the Central Government and the provinces in the region. That is the new road to reduce the load on National Highway 22 from Ho Chi Minh City to Tay Ninh, which has been overloaded for many years, often with serious traffic jams.

With the Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway project expected to start construction in May 2025 and be completed and opened to traffic in December 2027, it is expected that Tay Ninh's tourism potential will soon "explode"./.
