World number one pickleball player Ben Johns comes to Vietnam to compete

(Dan Tri) - World pickleball legend Ben Johns will come to Vietnam at the end of September to participate in the Vietnam Cup 2025 - a tournament in the PPA Tour Asia series of events.

On the afternoon of September 10, the PPA Tour Asia homepage confirmed that Ben Johns will come to Vietnam to participate in the Vietnam Cup 2025. The tournament will take place from September 30 to October 4 at Tien Son Sports Palace and Tuyen Son Sports Village, with a total prize value of 150,000 USD (nearly 4 billion VND).

In addition to Ben Johns, a host of other world-class pickleball stars will also be in Da Nang, including: Tyson McGuffin, Tyra Hurricane Black, Christian Alshon, Zane Navratil, Zoey Chao Yi Wang and Kaitlyn Christian.

Along with that, this tournament also brings together famous Vietnamese tennis players who have achieved outstanding results in the PPA Tour Asia 2025 tournament system, such as: Trinh Linh Giang (men's singles champion of Malaysia Open 2025); Ly Hoang Nam (men's singles runner-up of MB Vietnam Open 2025); Phuc Huynh (men's singles champion of MB Vietnam Open 2025).

With the participation of a series of international and Vietnamese pickleball stars, fans are looking forward to a "super classic" match between Asia's No. 1 player, Trinh Linh Giang, and the world's No. 1 player, Ben Johns. This promises to be a dramatic match, attracting great attention from domestic audiences.

Ben Johns is considered the greatest pickleball player of all time. Since 2020, he has held the world number 1 ranking in all three events.

His record is absolutely overwhelming, with a 108-match winning streak in singles, 123 PPA titles (gold medals) up to the 2024 Red Rock Open, and 21 Triple Crown titles - more than any other male player in history.

The American also holds the record for consecutive doubles titles when playing with Anna Leigh Waters, with 16 titles from March 2023 to February 2024. Notably, as of the 2024 Red Rock Open, Ben Johns has participated in 59 PPA tournaments and always won at least one medal.
