The Dutch tactician has been unemployed since being sacked by MU last October. Now, Ten Hag can return to his old team to work.

Dutch news agency De Telegraaf said Erik ten Hag is one of the leading candidates to replace Farioli - who has just announced his departure from the Amsterdam Arena.

The Dutch football giant immediately began looking for a new manager, with the two names being targeted being Ten Hag and Paul Simonis (currently coaching Go Ahead Eagles).

Ajax have just lost the Eredivisie title after a disappointing series of matches at the end of the season, allowing PSV to rise 1 point higher in the rankings.

Yesterday, coach Francesco Farioli confirmed his departure, as he aims for the hot seat at Tottenham.

As for Ten Hag, he had a successful time with Ajax, winning 3 Dutch championships, 2 KNVB cups and the Johan Cruyff Super Cup.

Arriving at MU in the summer of 2022, Ten Hag's tenure at Old Trafford lasted more than 2 years, before leaving his position in October 2024.

During his time leading the Red Devils, despite facing much criticism for not being able to shape the playing style, Ten Hag also won two trophies with MU, the Carabap Cup and the FA Cup.
