- Tet is a time for family reunions, but many people have to celebrate the Lunar New Year in the hospital. Therefore, in addition to ensuring medical examinations and treatment, healthcare facilities in the province have paid special attention to caring for patients during Tet, so that the first days of spring are filled with warmth and compassion.
In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), while the spring atmosphere permeates the streets, the treatment departments of the Provincial General Hospital continue to operate with urgency and seriousness. Besides maintaining continuous emergency care and treatment, the hospital also pays special attention to caring for patients who have to stay for treatment during the first days of the new year.

On a late afternoon at the end of the year, in the General Internal Medicine ward, Mr. Nong Van Loi from Na Duong commune was still receiving treatment after a severe complication. His family's difficult circumstances, coupled with being hospitalized during Tet (Lunar New Year), made him feel disheartened. Mr. Loi shared: "I thought this Tet would be very sad, without the means to go home; but thanks to the doctors and nurses who inquired about my well-being, and the hospital giving me Tet gifts and warm blankets, I feel much warmer."
Mr. Loi wasn't the only one; during the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Provincial General Hospital had over 200 patients staying in the hospital for inpatient treatment. The hospital organized visits and presented gifts to many seriously ill patients, poor patients, and those eligible for social welfare benefits who had to stay for treatment. From these New Year's gifts to the contributions of charitable organizations and individuals, the Lunar New Year in the hospital was no longer a silent wait, but a time of sharing and timely encouragement.
Ms. Pham Lan Anh, Head of the Social Work Department at the Provincial General Hospital, said: "One month before Tet (Lunar New Year), the hospital mobilized social resources and received more than 400 gift packages, worth 200 million VND, to give to patients with difficult circumstances who are receiving inpatient treatment during Tet. Although the gifts are not of great value, they contain a spirit of sharing, contributing to encouraging the patients' spirits and helping them alleviate difficulties and feel at ease during the first days of spring."

Not only at the provincial level, but also at regional health centers, efforts to care for patients during Tet (Lunar New Year) are being implemented comprehensively. At the Trang Dinh Regional Health Center, which covers a large area with many mountainous and border communes, the number of patients requiring treatment during Tet is quite high. The unit has proactively developed a plan to care for patients during Tet while ensuring professional services are maintained.
Mr. Be Van Khanh, Director of Trang Dinh Regional Medical Center, shared: "Many patients live far away and have difficult circumstances, so having to be hospitalized during Tet (Lunar New Year) can be disheartening. Therefore, the center tries to care for them in the smallest ways, from visiting and encouraging them to preparing Tet gifts so that patients feel warmer and more at ease during treatment. Simultaneously, the center maintains a full on-call team and sufficient medication, ready to handle emergency situations and ensure that patients' care is not interrupted."
According to statistics from the Department of Health, during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the entire province had more than 1,000 patients receiving inpatient treatment at medical facilities in the area. Therefore, all medical facilities paid close attention to taking care of patients during the Tet holiday so that patients would feel warm and comforted as the New Year arrived.
In the early days of spring, while many families are gathering together, at medical facilities throughout the province, shifts continue quietly, and doctors' hands remain dedicated to patients' bedside. The thorough professional preparation, the sense of responsibility of the medical staff, and their humane actions in caring for patients during Tet (Lunar New Year) have contributed to a warm and joyful holiday.
Tet (Lunar New Year) in the hospital may not have lavish feasts or boisterous laughter, but it is filled with sharing, trust, and companionship between the healthcare sector and patients. From these simple things, the spirit of "putting the patient at the center" continues to spread, affirming the role of the provincial healthcare system not only in caring for the people's health but also in cultivating lasting humanitarian values.
