Tree Planting Festival - Building Green Dreams

Việt NamViệt Nam03/02/2025

The Tree Planting Festival has become a beautiful tradition of the Vietnamese people, marking the beginning of annual tree planting and reforestation efforts by all levels, sectors, and localities. The tree planting and reforestation movement has been actively supported by Party committees, government agencies, and people of all ethnic groups in Ba Chẽ district.

Tree Planting Festival 2025
The 2025 district-level tree planting festival was held at the Sustainable Forestry Development Joint Stock Company (Khe Put hamlet, Thanh Son commune).

In order to contribute to the successful implementation of the Prime Minister 's plan to plant 1 billion trees in the 2021-2025 period and the Resolution of the 25th District Party Congress, term 2020-2025, with the orientation to become the center of forestry and medicinal plant economy of Quang Ninh province by 2025; together with other localities in the province, Ba Che district organized the "Tree Planting Festival" in 2025, planting over 16 hectares of forest across 7 communes with trees such as green teak, green lim, and flowering lat; these tree species are suitable for the soil and climate and are expected to improve the lives of ethnic minorities in mountainous areas in the long term.

According to Mr. Vi Thanh Vinh, Head of the District's Agriculture Department, Ba Che district currently has over 36,000 hectares of planted forest, of which the district has planted nearly 1,000 hectares of teak, mahogany, and other hardwood trees. With the determination to build the district into a forestry economic center, based on a harmonious combination of socio-economic development and environmental protection, the district aims to plant 5,000 hectares of new forest in 2025 to restore the forest area damaged by Typhoon No. 3; including over 100 hectares of large timber forest; and maintain forest cover at 80%.

Provincial and local leaders participated in planting 16 hectares of forest across 7 communes.

Upholding the fine tradition of "Tree Planting Festival in eternal remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh," for many years, Ba Che district has always considered tree planting as an important task, closely linked to the comprehensive development of the province, not only for today but also for future generations. Simultaneously recognizing the particularly important role and position of the forestry sector, along with planting new large timber trees, Ba Che district also focuses on educating the people to effectively protect and develop forests, contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 19-NQ/TU "On sustainable forestry development to 2025, with a vision to 2030" as well as Resolution No. 337/2021/NQ-HĐND of the Provincial People's Council "On stipulating some specific policies to encourage sustainable forestry development in Quang Ninh province"; thereby contributing to the realization of the province's green development goals. In addition, the district is also focusing on implementing many projects and programs in coordination with land and forest allocation to work with people in implementing the policy of planting large, long-lived timber trees and greening the eastern region of the province.

In 2025, due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi, more than 18,000 hectares of forest in the district were affected, with estimated damages of approximately 740 billion VND. More than simply planting trees, developing natural resources, and contributing to the reforestation of hills after the storm, the "Tree Planting Festival" in Ba Chẽ holds special significance for protecting and improving the living environment, especially given that Vietnam is one of the countries most severely affected by climate change.

In 2025, the district aims to plant 5,000 hectares of new forest to restore the area damaged by Typhoon No. 3, including over 100 hectares of large timber forest.

For over 60 years, following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, the Tree Planting Festival has become a widespread mass movement and a beautiful cultural tradition of the Vietnamese people in general, and the people of Ba Che district in particular. Through this, it promotes and educates awareness of protecting and developing forest resources, contributing to environmental improvement, responding to climate change, and creating a sustainable green economy. During these days when nature and people are still immersed in the colors and scents of spring, the vast green expanse of the forest stretching across the mountain slopes seems to add a touch of green to life; encouraging everyone to join hands in building many green dreams.
