Vi and her grandmother had a simple meal. Vi saved up money from the "Dream Fishing" program to buy books and school supplies.
Despite her family's difficult and impoverished circumstances, Vi is studious and persistent in pursuing her dream of getting an education and becoming successful. She believes that literacy will help her change her life and support her grandmother and father in the future.
Pham Tam Vi shared: " I want to be an artist. I try my best to study hard and get many perfect scores so that I can earn money to support my grandmother and father in the future. I love my father very much because he always works hard to raise us. Receiving gifts from this program makes me happy because everyone is supporting me with my school expenses and buying extra supplies when I need them. I am very grateful."
Tam Vi is one of the resilient children from the countryside, striving to improve herself every day. These children need helping hands, so that their dreams are not just written in notebooks but are given the strength to become reality. "Casting the Net of Dreams" has been and continues to do just that.
Pham Tam Vi takes care of the housework and looks after her younger sister, helping her grandmother when her father is at sea.
Mr. Tran Hoang Vu, Director of the Ca Mau Provincial Social Protection Center, said: "The Center, in coordination with the Vietnam Children's Protection Fund, supports children of fishermen with particularly difficult circumstances who are currently attending primary and secondary education in the province (under 16 years old as of the date of registration). Children are prioritized based on the following criteria: orphaned children (either one or both parents deceased); children from poor or near-poor households; children from families receiving social welfare benefits; children from island areas; and children from economically disadvantaged families. For example, Pham Tam Vi has received support for two consecutive years, helping her family alleviate difficulties and enabling her to attend school. We will continue this journey with the Vietnam Children's Protection Fund in the future so that more children of disadvantaged fishermen can have the opportunity to study and thrive.”
Vi received support from the "Dream Net" program for two consecutive years. Thanks to this, she was able to continue her studies and ease the burden on her father.
Currently, the "Casting the Net of Dreams" program has sponsored 166 children of fishermen from disadvantaged backgrounds, aiming to provide them with opportunities for education. At the same time, it encourages and motivates fishermen to confidently go out to sea, maintain their livelihoods, and contribute to social welfare in coastal and island areas; strengthening public support and building and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the nation's seas and islands.
