Waterfall artisan Pham Viet De (Bau Sen ward, Long Khanh city, Dong Nai province) confided that only by being "crazy" could he "bring" the majestic Ban Gioc waterfall complex in Cao Bang province to the South...
Waterfall artist Viet De shared that once when he visited Ban Gioc waterfall, he was impressed by the majestic beauty of Ban Gioc waterfall and determined to "bring" this waterfall home to visit.
Ban Gioc Waterfall is considered the most beautiful waterfall in Vietnam, located on the Vietnam-China border, in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province. The waterfall is over 60m high with the longest slope of 30m.
When the waterfall artist "brought" Ban Gioc waterfall home to play

Currently, at the house of the waterfall artisan Viet De, a complex of Ban Giuoc waterfalls has been formed, unusually tall and large.
Mr. De said that this is a replica of Ban Gioc waterfall that he designed and implemented since 2018 and has just been basically completed.
To complete the replica of Ban Gioc waterfall, Mr. De had to sell 1 hectare of urban land as investment capital.
Waterfall artist Viet De calculated that to make Ban Gioc waterfall, he had to carry and arrange about 3,000m3 of volcanic rock. Currently, at Ban Gioc waterfall version, there are 7 waterfalls lying on top of each other, each borrowing a hillside from the other, but still independent, no two are alike, very lively. The highest waterfall is over 5 meters.

Sitting here, you can hear the gurgling sound of the water as it falls straight down and hits the base of the waterfall, boiling with foam; or the gurgling sound as the water overflows the rocks and penetrates through many different layers of rock...
Later I learned that these "water sounds" were all designed by Mr. De with natural recognition and creative flair.
According to Mr. De, spending years designing and making a replica of Ban Gioc waterfall by himself is crazy.
He had to dig up volcanic rocks and classify them by size and shape, mark and separate the "talking" and "soulful" rocks; split the volcanic rocks underground to make lakes and lift tons of rocks to make mountains...

In the replica of Ban Gioc waterfall complex by the artist Viet De, there are currently very valuable ancient forest trees. T.D.
"There was a rock weighing several tons that was lifted up and placed in the right position, it was beautiful, but I saw that it was "not the most beautiful" so I took it down again.
There are rocks that look good at this angle, but not good at another angle or need to be raised 20-30cm, so they have to be taken down and adjusted...
Each time I do it, it takes a lot of effort and money. I polish my work down to the smallest detail," waterfall artist Viet De confided.
In his current replica of Ban Gioc waterfall complex, in addition to ancient forest trees, there are also perennial fruit trees, such as cherry, star apple, longan, syrup, grapefruit, orange...
Many of the trees are very "powerful" and cost tens of millions of VND each. These trees were planted very delicately by Mr. De to bring out the majestic beauty of the waterfall complex.
Artist makes waterfalls in natural art style
Waterfall artist Viet De confided that he used to be a farmer, growing vegetables, raising fish, growing coffee, pepper, etc.
He chose to make waterfalls because he loved this subject and always pursued the natural school. With this school, waterfall artisans need to be meticulous and have a very good "sense" of art.
Currently, besides the replica of Ban Gioc waterfall at home, the waterfall artist Viet De is most proud of is the artificial waterfall in the natural art style in Da Lat that he made. This waterfall is 6.5m high, 49m long, and 12m deep.
When asked why he only accepts work with large waterfalls, Mr. De laughed happily: "I am arrogant by nature. If something is difficult and other people can't do it, I will do it."
According to waterfall artist Viet De, he accepts to make a large waterfall not because of its high economic value. If the homeowner accepts to let him indulge in his passion, express his ego, and his natural artistic style with the work, he is willing to take a reasonable price, only hoping to leave artistic value for life.
In addition to arranging stones, Waterfall Artist Viet De also arranged sounds in his version of Ban Gioc Waterfall. Photo: T.D
