Thai Binh arrests 2 officials linked to La 'the Madman'.

On the evening of June 13th, sources from the Thai Binh Provincial People's Procuracy stated that earlier that day, the Thai Binh Provincial Police Investigation Agency had issued a decision to prosecute and arrest two individuals, both current and former officials of the district and commune levels in Kien Xuong District (Thai Binh Province), and conducted searches of their residences and workplaces to continue investigating the crime of abusing their positions and authority while performing their official duties, as stipulated in Article 356 of the Penal Code.

'Crazy La' Arrested: The Past of the Renowned Businessman from Thai Binh Province

Two officials, one of whom is a former official, have been arrested: Tran Van Thanh (41 years old, residing in Quang Trung residential area, Kien Xuong town, Kien Xuong district), an official and civil servant of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Kien Xuong district; and Pham Thien Tu (63 years old, residing in Phu Cap village, Nam Binh commune, Kien Xuong district), a former official and civil servant of the land administration office of Minh Quang commune (Kien Xuong district).

The aforementioned decisions and orders have been approved by the People's Procuratorate of Thai Binh province.

As previously reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, on the afternoon of June 12th, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Thai Binh Provincial Police initiated a criminal case, indicted the suspect, issued a search warrant for the residence and workplace, and ordered the temporary detention of suspect Nguyen Son La (aka La "the Madman", 67 years old, from Minh Quang commune, Kien Xuong district) for the crime of abusing his position and authority while performing his official duties, as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 356 of the Penal Code.

The suspect Nguyen Son La is accused of being an accomplice in the case. Accordingly, La was arrested for investigation into the act of colluding with and influencing officials and agencies to violate land law regulations, causing exceptionally serious consequences.

The suspect, La, has a prior conviction for theft. In 2005, La "the Madman" established Manh La Limited Company (located on Le Loi Street, De Tham Ward, Thai Binh City), registering 53 different business activities, primarily in the field of road passenger transport.

From the aforementioned field, the defendant La built many social connections and ventured into investment and business in various sectors such as real estate, factory leasing, footwear manufacturing, etc., becoming a well-known brand in Thai Binh province.

La "the Madman" is also known as a land auction expert. Many years ago, the government sold land in Minh Quang commune, Kien Xuong district (Thai Binh province) to La. Afterward, La subdivided the land and sold plots.
