On the afternoon of November 26, the U22 Vietnam team had its third training session in Ba Ria (HCMC) to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games starting in December in Thailand.

In an interview with the media before the training session, striker Nguyen Thanh Nhan said he and his teammates are gradually getting used to the training intensity of coach Kim Sang Sik in the final preparation phase.

Previously, the Vietnam U22 team trained and competed at the Panda Cup 2025 in China under the coaching of acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh, because coach Kim Sang Sik was busy leading the Vietnam team to compete against Laos in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

Thanh Nhan shared: "After 2 training sessions, my team and I have gradually caught up with the intensity of the coach's training. The team will try harder in the next training sessions. Currently, the coach still lets the team practice at high intensity to maintain physical strength."

Host Thailand today (November 26) decided to move the venue of Group B men's football competition of SEA Games 33 to Bangkok after the current heavy rain and flood situation in Songkhla.

Commenting on this, Thanh Nhan said: "Continuously changing competition venues will have a little impact. But it's okay, the whole team will work hard and try every day to achieve the set goals."

"At the 33rd SEA Games, all the opponents are formidable. I consider U22 Indonesia and U22 Thailand to be the two most formidable opponents. But U22 Vietnam will try to win the gold medal," he added.

Thanh Nhan said he will try his best to be able to play, despite the fact that the current U22 Vietnam team has many quality strikers such as Dinh Bac, Quoc Viet, Viktor Le, Bui Vi Hao...

He said: "Every player has their own strengths. I myself have my own strengths. And I will try to practice well to have a place to compete at SEA Games 33."

Coach Kim Sang Sik has called up 28 players for the final training session in Ba Ria and will eliminate 5 players before attending the 33rd SEA Games.

"Every tournament will have a certain number of players. Therefore, the whole team must try their best so that coach Kim Sang Sik can choose the best player," the striker from Tay Ninh shared.

At the end of the interview, Thanh Nhan said: "My team and I will try to practice and compete to the best of our ability. I hope fans will follow and cheer for us on our journey to SEA Games 33."
