Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thai Nguyen province. |
PV: First of all, could you please share specifically about the results of the implementation of the program to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province up to now?
Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen: According to the review, the whole province has 4,979 households living in temporary houses, dilapidated houses, concentrated in 37 communes and wards in the Northern region (formerly Bac Kan province). Of which, 4,176 households need to build new houses and 803 households need to repair their houses.
As of July 8, 2025, 4,170 households have started or completed housing construction. Specifically, 2,174 households have completed construction and 1,996 households are in the process of construction. The remaining 809 households have not yet started construction. This is a very remarkable result, reflecting the high determination and synchronous participation of the entire political system and the people.
Notably, among the households receiving support, there are hundreds of cases of policy families and people with revolutionary contributions. The province gives special priority to this group of people and directs localities to complete support before July 25 - on the occasion of the anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
Reporter: To complete the goal of eliminating 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses before August 31, what key solutions has the province implemented, sir?
Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen: From the beginning, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee identified this as an urgent task with long-term strategic significance in ensuring social security and socio-economic development.
The province has established 16 interdisciplinary working groups to directly inspect and supervise at the grassroots level, and at the same time organize specialized conferences to discuss solutions to remove difficulties in performing tasks.
At the first working conference between the Provincial People's Committee and 37 northern communes and wards after the merger, the provincial leaders directly listened to, directed and resolved problems arising from practice. Localities were required to commit to completing on schedule, especially prioritizing timely support for policy families. Along with that, the province ensured adequate resources (including budget, socialized resources and technical support) so that each house after completion meets standards, is sustainable and safe.

PV: During the implementation process, what difficulties did the province encounter, sir?
Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen: In reality, the implementation has many difficulties. Firstly, the mobilization of local resources in some localities is still limited. Many households are in particularly difficult circumstances and cannot contribute money or working days. Secondly, some traditional customs and beliefs of ethnic minorities make people reluctant to build new houses at a certain time. Thirdly, there are legal problems related to land, such as not having a land use right certificate, houses located in planning areas... This makes it difficult to assess and implement support.
In addition, remote communes face difficult traffic conditions, especially during the rainy and stormy season, affecting the transportation of materials and construction progress.
PV: Faced with these difficulties, what solutions does the province have to ensure progress, comrade?
Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen: The province identifies propaganda as the key. Socio-political organizations, the Fatherland Front, and the People's Committees of communes are assigned to closely follow the locality to mobilize people to understand, agree, and actively participate.
In terms of resources, the province has effectively mobilized social resources. Many businesses, organizations and individuals have provided funding, materials and working days. Local authorities have also mobilized militia and youth forces to support poor households in building houses.
Regarding procedures, the Provincial People's Committee requested specialized agencies to shorten the process and provide specific instructions for each household. Legal document issues were carefully considered and resolved step by step, but still in compliance with legal regulations.
The province also launched the emulation movement "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses - For a prosperous and happy life of the people", creating an exciting atmosphere and high determination throughout the political system.
PV: Could you please share more about the message that this program brings?
Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen: The demolition of 4,979 temporary and dilapidated houses is not simply a construction project, but also a symbol of the revival of faith, the foundation for a stable life and sustainable development.
We want to strongly spread the spirit of "leaving no one behind". Thereby demonstrating the concern of the Party, State, and Thai Nguyen provincial government for each citizen - especially the poor, the disadvantaged, and those with meritorious services. This is also a practical action affirming political determination after the merger, contributing to building Thai Nguyen to develop quickly, sustainably, and humanely.
PV: Thank you very much, comrade!
