After the Korean eSports Association announced the national League of Legends (LoL) team roster for the 2026 Asian Games (Asiad 2026) in Aichi-Nagoya, the Jungle position became the focus of controversy when Gen.G's Canyon was chosen instead of Oner.

According to the regulations, athletes have the right to file a complaint about the selection results before May 28th. Despite receiving much disappointment from the community, T1's "jungle god" quickly made a personal decision.

Following his 2-0 victory against OKBRION yesterday, Oner officially announced that he would not be participating in the appeal process. This decision was made by the player born in 2002 just one hour after the list from KeSPA appeared.

"It didn't take me long to make the decision. It was only about an hour after the official list of candidates for the national team was announced. Immediately afterwards, I informed my teammates, the coaching staff, and my agent," Oner shared with Osen .

Despite receiving much advice to think carefully, Oner remained firm in his position, believing that filing a complaint would not bring him any sense of comfort or fairness.

At the same time, the T1 star also expressed deep gratitude to his fans for proactively remaining silent and not bringing up the painful memories on his personal live streams to protect his mental state.

Oner stated that he hopes to wear the national team jersey when he is in top form, receiving absolute recognition from everyone without any doubt.

When asked about Canyon, Oner praised his colleague for securing a spot in the official competition and declared that he would wholeheartedly support the national team.

"I've shared before that I would do my best to be selected for the national team with the absolute support of everyone, without any controversy. Even though Canyon was selected this time and not me, I still believe he is an outstanding player," Oner said.

This straightforward move by the T1 member helped to quell the controversy on esports forums, allowing fans to focus on the current LCK tournament and the region's common goal at the upcoming Asian Games.
