The district requires localities to focus on allocating sufficient resources to synchronously implement epidemic prevention measures such as: Vaccination against rabies for dogs and cats; requiring household owners to commit to managing dogs and cats raised in the family's premises, not letting dogs and cats roam freely and affecting people around them and ensuring environmental hygiene; strictly directing the registration of dog and cat breeding with the commune-level authorities.
Review and compile detailed statistics on the total number of dogs and cats raised in the area, register vaccine needs so that sectors can proactively supply them; speed up rabies vaccination progress in 2025. Strengthen inspection and take measures to handle households raising dogs and cats that do not comply with the provisions of the Veterinary Law.
Previously, in Binh Trung commune, Mr. PVĐ’s family (Vinh Xuan village) kept 7 dogs that had not been vaccinated against rabies, chained in the yard, and had no contact with dogs outside. On April 26, 1 dog showed signs of not eating, vomiting, red eyes, drooling, and unusual howling.
The sick dog bit the homeowner and his wife and two other dogs. The people who were bitten went to the District Health Center for preventive treatment and reported the case. On April 28, the authorities took samples for testing and the results were positive for rabies.
