DTO - On May 9, Thanh Binh District People's Committee held a ceremony to accept, hand over and put into use bid packages of the Infrastructure Development Project in Dong Thap province.

The project is implemented in 5 communes: Tan Binh, Tan Hoa, Tan Hue, Tan Quoi, Tan Long of Thanh Binh district, with a total length of more than 96km, including 2 main components: Component 1, upgrading the flood prevention dyke system combined with rural traffic with a total length of more than 64km. Including level IV dykes of Cu Lao Tay (more than 48km) and Rach Ma Truong (more than 16km), roadbed width of 7.5 - 9m, road surface width of 5.5 - 7m. Renovation of 8 open culverts, construction of 4 electric pumping stations for flood prevention (capacity of 5,300 - 12,500m³/hour), along with bridges and drainage culverts.
Component 2, upgrading rural infrastructure to ensure operation during flood season, total length of more than 31km. Including Tan Binh - Tan Hue route (more than 5km), road from Tan Long bridge to Tan Binh ferry (more than 6km), dredging more than 20km of Rach Ma Truong canal, building a system of ditches and drainage culverts.
The total investment of the project is over 678 billion VND, using loans from the Saudi Arabia Development Fund and 50% domestic counterpart capital. All 100% of households in the project area agreed to donate over 708,000m² of land, worth about 271 billion VND.
Signing of acceptance minutes and putting the project into use
The project's completion contributes to synchronizing nearly 100km of flood-prevention dykes and rural traffic, minimizing natural disaster damage, promoting agricultural production and improving people's lives.
Mr. Vo Thanh Ngoan - Chairman of Thanh Binh District People's Committee, said: "The project has practical significance, receiving attention from leaders at all levels and the people. The investment in upgrading the transportation and irrigation systems has improved travel conditions, expanded trading opportunities, and developed the socio -economic development of the entire Cu Lao Tay region."
