The Institute of Environmental, Sea and Island Sciences has the function of basic and applied research and technology development on environment, sea and islands.
Specifically, the Institute of Environmental, Sea and Island Sciences under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will be established on the basis of reorganizing the Institute of Environmental Sciences under the General Department of Environment and the Institute of Sea and Island Research under the General Department of Vietnam Seas and Islands.
The Institute of Environmental, Sea and Island Sciences has the function of basic and applied research, developing technology on environment, sea and islands to serve state management of environment, sea and islands; performing scientific and technological services on environment, sea and islands according to the provisions of law.
The Institute of Environmental, Sea and Island Sciences has legal status, its own seal and account; headquartered in Hanoi city.
The Institute of Environmental, Marine and Island Sciences is a public service unit that partially self-insures its regular expenses.
The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment shall specify the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Institute of Environmental, Sea and Island Sciences.
