Hanoi City provides maximum support to victims of mini apartment fire

The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee has directed the City People's Committee, the City Fatherland Front Committee, relevant departments and branches and Thanh Xuan district to coordinate to provide the highest level of support to the victims and temporary housing support for those who escaped from the mini apartment fire.

On September 13, Hanoi City coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to hold a meeting to initially assess and propose measures to handle the consequences of the fire that occurred at the mini apartment building at No. 37, Alley 29/70, Khuong Ha Street, Khuong Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District on the night of September 12 and early morning of September 13.

The conference was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung; Deputy Minister of Public Security - Major General Nguyen Van Long.

Attending the meeting were representatives of central ministries and branches; members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee; Standing Committee of the City People's Council and People's Committee; departments, branches and sectors of the city and Thanh Xuan district.

In the initial report on the incident, a representative of the Hanoi City Police said that the fire at the mini apartment building at No. 37, Alley 29/70, Khuong Ha Street broke out at 11:50 p.m. on September 12. The house has an area of ​​about 200 square meters, in a small, deep alley, 400 meters from Khuong Ha Street.

After receiving information about the fire, city leaders, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Force (PCCC) of the Ministry of Public Security, the Fire Police University, the City Police, and Thanh Xuan District Police arrived at the scene and directed the fire fighting, urgently implementing rescue plans for the victims. After 45 minutes of the fire, the fire was basically under control.

During the fire fighting process, a large force of fire prevention and fighting officers and soldiers, the District Police and wards in Thanh Xuan district, along with a large number of people, university students, volunteers, and medical facilities actively participated in the first aid and emergency care for the victims.

As of 5:00 a.m. on September 13, preliminary statistics showed that over 70 people had been successfully rescued and 54 people had been taken to the emergency room. The injured are being treated at hospitals in the city: Hanoi Medical University Hospital; Bach Mai Hospital, Ha Dong General Hospital, Military Hospital 103...

Immediately after receiving the information, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the City Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, and Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Long went directly to the scene to direct the work of overcoming the consequences.

After listening to the reports of the units, Secretary of the City Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung directed that this was an especially serious incident, requiring the participation of the entire political system in supporting the victims and those affected by the fire. The Secretary of the City Party Committee requested the Department of Health and medical facilities to focus and make every effort to treat the victims, with the City ensuring the treatment costs.

Regarding support for victims, the City Party Secretary directed the City People's Committee, the City Fatherland Front Committee, relevant departments and branches and Thanh Xuan district to coordinate to provide the highest level of support for victims and temporary housing for survivors.

The support source is from the budget, socialization and the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels. Initially, for the deaths, the City will support 37,000,000 VND/person deceased and 12,400,000 VND/person injured.

For children, the City Children's Support Fund provides additional support: VND 5,000,000/child who died and VND 10,000,000/child who was injured and had to be treated in hospital. Support from other socialized sources of the City, district, ward and mass organizations - society.

The city supports students, workers, and laborers who rent (or share an apartment) with 1.5 million VND/person/month for 6 months; supports all hospital expenses for people injured in the fire who must be treated in the hospital; supports money to buy books and school supplies for children of families affected by the fire, at the rate of 5 million VND/child.

At the same time, local authorities are assigned to take measures to support stable housing and essential living conditions to ensure people's lives so that life can soon return to normal.

The Secretary of the City Party Committee requested the City People's Committee to direct the City Police and relevant agencies to investigate and clarify the incident, strictly handle violations according to legal regulations; step up inspection and immediately overcome existing problems that pose a risk of fire and explosion in the city.

Authorities and media agencies step up propaganda and training skills for each citizen on fire prevention, fire fighting, and handling situations when a fire occurs.
