Samsung family member achieves near-perfect college entrance exam score

The results were shared on social media by Park Sun-young, chairman of the new Truth and Reconciliation Commission, after South Korea announced the university entrance exam scores. He commented that Ms. Lee’s son, Lim, “has never lost his top position throughout his school years.”

Lim is the cousin of Samsung Group Chairman Lee Jae-yong. He attended Gyeonggi Elementary School and graduated from Whimoon Middle School in 2023 as the second-highest-ranking student. Throughout his three years of high school, Lim continued to maintain excellent academic performance. The news of Suneung's near-perfect results attracted even more attention in the context that this year's exam was considered significantly more difficult than last year's.

One notable point is Ms. Lee Boo-jin’s educational choice. Unlike the trend of many Korean tycoon families who prioritize sending their children to study abroad early, Ms. Lee always sends her son to study domestically. According to the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Assessment, only five candidates achieved a perfect score on the Suneung this year. With a near-perfect score, Lim will be admitted to Seoul National University's School of Business.
