Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said that Da Nang is focusing on developing tourism , services, and high-tech industry, in which the semiconductor microchip sector is the spearhead.
The city is developing semiconductors in three directions: infrastructure, policy, and human resources. Da Nang has been preparing land funds, concentrated information technology zones, software parks, and high-tech zones for businesses to implement projects on semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
In particular, the operation of Da Nang Software Park No. 2 will be the center for the development of the city's semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors.
Regarding policy, the City People's Council has passed 7 resolutions effective from January 1, 2025 to develop science and technology and innovation by concretizing Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city.
Regarding human resource training, the city continues to deploy training courses and foster domestic and foreign source lecturers related to microchip design and packaging testing.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the following contents: determining the completion time of the ATP course and specific action steps in training human resources in the field of semiconductor microchips between the University of Arizona and Da Nang city;
Discuss options for selecting the number of students and lecturers from universities and colleges in Da Nang to study master's, doctoral or post-doctoral programs through support from Arizona State University or support from the Da Nang city budget according to Resolution No. 57/2024/NQ-HDND of the City People's Council on regulations on human resource development policies in the field of semiconductor microchips and artificial intelligence in the city.
At the same time, discuss joint research and development projects of universities in the city, student/lecturer exchange initiatives, training programs to certify learners' skills development according to the needs of the semiconductor industry;
Information on Da Nang city's policies in developing the semiconductor and artificial intelligence fields for businesses, organizations and research institutes in the semiconductor field in the state of Arizona.
In 2024, Arizona State University coordinated with Da Nang city to organize a training program for source lecturers on semiconductor testing and packaging for 17 lecturers from training institutions in the area.
