A single village has dozens of cultural and sports clubs.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong, head of Cong Xuyen village, happily shared: "Living in a land with a tradition of academic excellence, the people of Cong Xuyen not only value learning but also always follow the example of President Ho Chi Minh, regularly engaging in physical exercise and sports to maintain their health. Currently, there are over 10 clubs in the village, established and run by the villagers themselves. Each club focuses on a different cultural or sporting activity, thus meeting the basic needs and interests of all the villagers."

For example, among the elderly and middle-aged, the village has a health and wellness club managed by Ms. Le Thi Hoan, now nearly 80 years old, which attracts a large number of elderly members who participate in exercises every morning.
There's a table tennis club run by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vien, over 70 years old, for those who love the sport, where they can play in the afternoons from 3 PM onwards in the table tennis clubhouse area. Those who enjoy badminton can join the badminton club run by Ms. Dinh Thi Xuan, 60 years old, which plays in the mornings. In addition, the village also has a recreational volleyball club, run by Ms. Hoang Thi Hien, 50 years old, for middle-aged men and women, which they play in the evenings.
Women with lively personalities can join the folk dance club led by Ms. Le Thi Yen, who is over 60 years old. One club is for middle-aged women, practicing in the evenings at the cultural center's courtyard, while another club is for younger women, practicing early in the morning.
The young men love football and even have their own football club, playing daily at the village's football field.
Those with weaker health or who prefer gentle, slow exercise can join the fitness club at the village square from 8-9 pm every day.

As evening falls, in Cong Xuyen village, you can still find a few villagers engrossed in playing Chinese chess under trees or in front of their houses. These are members of the Chinese chess team led by Mr. Hoang Van Phuc. Every year, during the festival celebrating National Day on September 2nd, the team members "go out" to compete in chess matches with players from other areas.
Besides sports, Cong Xuyen village also has cultural and artistic clubs. At over 70 years old, Mr. Doan Ngoc Nghi is currently in charge of the village's poetry club. According to the villagers, the club has been around for quite a while, probably several decades, and still attracts many poetry lovers. On weekdays, club members share their own poems, while during village festivals, the club performs poetry readings for the public. Currently, the club has published one poetry collection. The village also has an arts club led by Mr. Le Van Khai, who guides those passionate about singing and dancing to practice for performances at village festivals or conferences.

Along with the clubs, Cong Xuyen village also hosts many community activities, festivals, and celebrations every year. The biggest event of the year is the National Day celebration with traditional sports such as boat racing, chess competitions, tug-of-war, football, volleyball, badminton, sack racing, etc.
In addition, the village also holds the Ancestor Worship Spring Ceremony on the 7th day of the first lunar month. This is a significant occasion for the people of Cong Xuyen to commemorate the founding ancestor of the craft who established and passed down the masonry trade to his descendants today.
On the 23rd day of the 10th lunar month, the village holds a memorial service for the descendants of Cong Xuyen to commemorate those who contributed to building the village's temples and pagodas.
On the 28th day of the 12th lunar month, the village organizes a celebration to honor and present gifts to elderly people aged 70 and above.
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, the village holds a ceremony to pray for peace and good fortune in the new year.
Cong Xuyen village also has a traditional Giao Hao festival. This year, on April 11-12 (corresponding to the 24th-25th of the second lunar month), Cong Xuyen village and Tu Duong village (Chuong Duong commune) will jointly organize the Giao Hao festival with many rich activities such as religious ceremonies, processions, folk games, and a cultural exchange night... promising to bring a unique and meaningful cultural space to the people of the two villages and visitors.
Let's unite to build a cultured way of life.
With the development of festivals, cultural and sports activities, and community events, the people of Cong Xuyen generally enjoy a healthy lifestyle and good health. The village currently has three centenarians, the oldest being 105 years old. Mr. Le Van Vinh, who recently celebrated 80 years as a Party member, remains very alert and healthy. One elderly woman, the mother of a fallen soldier, sets a shining example for her descendants. In addition, the village has over 80 other elderly people aged 80 to 100 years old.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong, head of Cong Xuyen village, the elderly generally live moderately, exercise regularly, and maintain a cheerful and optimistic spirit. Many still take on the job of making votive paper offerings daily, which both generates income and reduces dependence on their children and grandchildren, while also honing their dexterity and mental skills. Their extended families are harmonious, and their children and grandchildren are filial. As a result, the percentage of families in Cong Xuyen achieving the "Culturally Exemplary Family" title remains high each year, and Cong Xuyen village consistently achieves the "Culturally Exemplary Village" title.
Community activities also create opportunities for villagers to strengthen solidarity and close bonds. Each time they gather at the communal courtyard for sports, singing, and dancing, the people of Cong Xuyen not only improve their health but also chat, share joys and sorrows, and learn from each other's experiences in building civilized and happy families and raising their children to be successful adults. In the village, whenever a family experiences a funeral, wedding, or unexpected difficulty, neighbors visit, share, encourage, and provide timely assistance. For the many descendants of Cong Xuyen who work far away, the annual festival is always an opportunity to return home, reconnecting them with their roots.
The people of Cong Xuyen village are also proud of their successful implementation of the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement. For about 10 years, the village has practiced cremation. In the past two years, the cremation rate has reached 100%, leading all villages in the former Thuong Tin district. By 2025, many families will even cremate their deceased relatives before holding funeral ceremonies at home. Weddings are mainly held at the village cultural center on a moderate scale. The village also prioritizes promoting education. Many large clans continue to recognize and reward their descendants for academic achievement and success.
