When most people think of the Titanic, they think of a giant cruise ship. However, despite being the largest passenger ship in the world in 1912, the famous ship was actually much smaller than the cruise ships we know today.
The Titanic was 10 stories high, 269 meters long, and 28 meters wide at its widest point.

Meanwhile, the world's largest cruise ship today, Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas, is 20 stories high, 365m long and 65m wide. The ship officially made its first voyage in January this year.
Last May, the Titanic captured public attention when the first complete digital scan of the legendary shipwreck was released, 111 years after it sank in the North Atlantic.

Among the social media chatter, other facts, graphics and images began to emerge, including comparisons of the size of the Titanic and modern cruise ships, which left many stunned.
An edited image on Twitter shows the Titanic sailing in front of a modern-day cruise ship. Many users expressed their amazement at the huge size difference.

“Scary”, “crazy”, “amazing”, “That modern cruise ship will pick up icebergs to drink cocktails” are some of the comments from the online community.
Since the discovery of the wreck in 1985, many attempts have been made to investigate the Titanic. However, images have been poor so far. Digital scans provide a complete view of the ship and reveal its complete state.
The ship is lying at a depth of 3,800m in the Atlantic Ocean and is split into two parts, with the bow and stern about 800m apart, surrounded by a large garbage patch.
