Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz is stepping up its electrification strategy by confirming that it will launch the all-electric GLC EQ SUV at the Munich Motor Show (IAA Mobility) in September 2025. In the context of electric SUVs becoming increasingly popular, the GLC EQ is expected to become the German luxury carmaker's flagship model in the zero-emission SUV segment.
The GLC EQ was developed as a full-fledged replacement for the EQC, Mercedes-Benz's first electric SUV, which failed to live up to initial expectations. The new model features a modern, luxurious design and "a new face for the brand", and is expected to put Mercedes-Benz back at the forefront of the luxury electric car race.

Although Mercedes-Benz has only revealed a teaser image, the GLC EQ prototypes caught testing show many notable details. The electric SUV has an impressive glowing grille at the front, along with completely redesigned LED headlights and taillights, creating a new, much more modern look than the internal combustion engine GLC.
The GLC EQ will be similar in size to the current GLC, but will use a completely new technology platform, especially the advanced 800V electrical architecture. Thanks to that, the car supports DC fast charging with a capacity of up to 320 kW, allowing an additional 260 km of range after only 10 minutes of charging, a respectable figure in the segment.

Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLC 400 4Matic, although detailed specifications on engine power, operating range or acceleration time have not been announced. However, experts expect the company to soon add a high-performance version after the standard version is launched.
Direct competitors of the Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ include the Porsche Macan EV, an electric sports SUV from Stuttgart, and the BMW iX3, a car line that is about to enter the Neue Klasse generation with a completely new design and technology.

In addition to introducing the GLC EQ, Mercedes-Benz also brought to the 2025 Munich Motor Show a series of advanced technologies such as the semi-autonomous driving assistance system MB.Drive Assist Pro. Event attendees will have the opportunity to experience this technology in practice on a specially equipped CLA model.
In addition, high-end models such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS and S-Class with the Drive Pilot system, a high-level autonomous driving technology, will also appear for test driving experiences. Notably, the company also displays the Concept AMG GT XX, a concept car with a bold design and high performance, promising to attract great attention at the event.
