Female racer No. 1 Nguyen Thi That has become the first athlete of Vietnamese Sports to win a ticket to France to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics .
Nguyen Thi That won the ticket after successfully defending the Gold medal at the 2023 Asian Road Cycling Championship, taking place in Thailand.
This is the third time the An Giang cyclist has won the Asian championship after 2018 and 2022.
Competing in the women's mass start event at a distance of 109km, the Vietnamese team has 4 athletes participating, including Nguyen Thi That , Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai and Tran Thi Thuy Trang.
Throughout the race, with the help of her teammates, cyclist Nguyen Thi That was always in the top group and eventually finished first with a time of 2 hours 51 minutes 41 seconds.
With this impressive achievement, Nguyen Thi That became the first Vietnamese athlete to win a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The girl from An Giang also made history by becoming the first racer in the history of Vietnamese road cycling to participate in an Olympic Games. This is a worthy reward for Nguyen Thi That after her tireless efforts.
Nguyen Thi That's victory will be a boost for Vietnamese athletes to achieve success in their journey to win tickets to attend the biggest sports festival on the planet, which will take place in France next year.
