According to the Ministry of Health 's Covid-19 prevention and control bulletin, there were 2,043 new cases on May 17th.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has recorded 11,596,662 cases, ranking 13th out of 231 countries and territories. In terms of the number of cases per million people, Vietnam ranks 120th out of 231 countries and territories (an average of 117,193 cases per million people).
Data reported daily by provincial and city health departments on the Covid-19 management system of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health:
Number of patients declared recovered today: 853 cases; Total number of recovered cases: 10,633,704 cases. Number of patients currently receiving oxygen therapy: 75 cases, including: Oxygen via mask: 65 cases; High-flow non-invasive ventilation (HFNC): 6 cases; Non-invasive mechanical ventilation: 1 case; Invasive mechanical ventilation: 3 cases.
No deaths were recorded today. The average number of deaths recorded over the past 7 days is 0.
The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 in Vietnam to date is 43,201, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.
The total number of deaths ranks 26th out of 231 countries and territories, and the number of deaths per million population ranks 141st out of 231 countries and territories. Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths ranks 7th out of 50 (3rd in ASEAN), and the number of deaths per million population ranks 29th out of 50 Asian countries and territories (5th in ASEAN).
On May 16th, 875 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered. Thus, the total number of vaccine doses administered is 266,341,032, including: 223,694,570 doses for people aged 18 and over: 70,908,855 doses of the first dose; 68,453,263 doses of the second dose; 14,343,935 doses of the booster dose; 52,123,045 doses of the first booster dose; and 17,865,472 doses of the second booster dose.
The total number of doses for children aged 12 to 17 years is 23,965,543: 9,130,889 doses for the first dose; 9,021,366 doses for the second dose; and 5,813,288 doses for the first booster dose. The total number of doses for children aged 5-11 years is 18,680,919: 10,221,541 doses for the first dose; and 8,459,378 doses for the second dose.
