According to the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control bulletin of the Ministry of Health , on May 17, there were 2,043 new cases.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has had 11,596,662 infections, ranking 13th out of 231 countries and territories, while with the rate of infections per 1 million people, Vietnam ranks 120th out of 231 countries and territories (on average, there are 117,193 infections per 1 million people).

Data reported daily by the Department of Health of provinces and cities on the Covid-19 Management System of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health:

Number of patients announced to be cured in the day: 853 cases; Total number of cured cases: 10,633,704 cases. Number of patients on oxygen is 75 cases, of which: Oxygen breathing via mask: 65 cases; High flow oxygen breathing (HFNC): 6 cases; Non-invasive mechanical ventilation: 1 case; Invasive mechanical ventilation: 3 cases.

0 deaths recorded today. Average number of deaths recorded over the past 7 days: 0 cases.

The total number of deaths from Covid-19 in Vietnam to date is 43,201, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

Total deaths ranked 26th out of 231 countries and territories, deaths per 1 million people ranked 141st out of 231 countries and territories. Compared to Asia, total deaths ranked 7th out of 50 (ranked 3rd in ASEAN), deaths per 1 million people ranked 29th out of 50 countries and territories in Asia (ranked 5th in ASEAN).

On May 16, 875 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were injected. Thus, the total number of vaccine doses injected was 266,341,032 doses, of which: The number of doses injected for people aged 18 and over was 223,694,570 doses: 1st dose was 70,908,855 doses; 2nd dose was 68,453,263 doses; Supplementary dose was 14,343,935 doses; 1st booster dose was 52,123,045 doses; 2nd booster dose was 17,865,472 doses.

The number of doses for children aged 12 to 17 is 23,965,543 doses: 1st dose is 9,130,889 doses; 2nd dose is 9,021,366 doses; 1st booster dose is 5,813,288 doses. The number of doses for children aged 5 to 11 is 18,680,919 doses: 1st dose is 10,221,541 doses; 2nd dose is 8,459,378 doses.
